Hello I am thinking of getting myself a pair of the imperial range given the finish they have and the beautiful sole

Could you comment on their leather? do they break in well if minimal blister? How is the fit like? Regular or wide?

In my opinion, the Cheaney Imperials are quite good value for money, especially if purchased at a discount. That said, you should not expect the quality to be in the league of G&G. The leathers are not as supple and the finishing is inferior. I would regard the width as normal, but with a slightly higher instep.

I love the Claverton balmoral style, and this is such a cool color. I would be real tempted to start adding some black patina to the shoes, so it's probably just as well that I don't have a pair.

Would you do black all over or mainly on the toe and heel counters(That is what I have been doing)

I was thinking of staining the sole edge black.

Id do an all over black, and certainly do the edges.

Actually I would leave the sole edge the way it is for contrast, I think it adds to the overall effect of the shoe and the coloring.

I would not change the color of the shoe above the galosh line, but I would work black into the rest of the shoe, focusing mostly on the toe and heel counter.
