Is wearing sandals too uncivilized?

i like the look of these prada sandals, very well designed sandals, but i am afraid if i wear them too much people will think i am uncouth, no matter how nice the sandals are i get the feeling showing toes often by wearing your sandals often will turn people off. am i right? alternatives? stay with sandals? go with sneakers? or what other footwear will it be?

Whenever I am tempted to wear sandals (when not pool-side or at the beach) I put on boat shoes or drivers instead.

they can possibly be worn with linen pants while on vacation in the caribbean...or...while vacationing at your beach house in the caribbean...

There's a lot of negativity toward Sandals here, but I rather like them for wearing at the beach, pool or height of summer. There is a world of difference between sandals with Jorts and a T-Shirt and Sandals with slim linen trousers and an open collar shirt.

They are so easy a caveman could wear them...

Just kidding. Anyway, I would say where and how you plan on wearing them are the biggest deal. If you are going to wear them with socks, um, no. If you are going to wear them with a suit, again I would suggest you reconsider. But, you are at the beach during the summer and are wearing shorts, they are perfect. As was said before there are certain looks they are ok with as well as certain locations. If you keep them to those or when you are kicking around at home, more power to you.

I don't think they're uncivilised, not as bad as flip-flops. Wear them by the pool or on the beach, they're ok.

Not big on the square toe and the brand markings, but besides that, fine beach wear.

No, it is not. The very inventors of civilization, Mesopotamians, Egyptians and the inventors of Western Civilization, the Romans, all wore sandals. It is a question of intelligent adaption to the weather. If it's hot enough to want sandals, it's hot enough to wear sandals. I wouldn't wear them to work unless you owned the company but for any casual wear, in hot weather sandals are fine.

Pretty much my view. Same with shorts. Artificial rules of formality are just that, and have nothing to do with actual style.

Not uncivilized per se, but difficult to pull off due to various reasons...mostly, prevalent gnarly toe nails. If you do, do a self-pedicure, or something
