Pepe is way too busy for normal requests.

Thanks.  Can anyone clarify their size guide - they reference "height." Do they mean this is the length of the sole or something else?  This is confusing to me because their 6.5UK is comparable to a 7US and on the size guide, the 6.5UK 276mm in "height."  I wear a true 7-7.5US in Allen Edmonds and my AE soles are many mm's longer than 276mm.  I also have a size 7.5US in a John Fluevog  and cole haan's and the soles are close to 290mm.  According to the size guide, that would put me into a size 9, which I know I am not.  I assume that their size guide is referencing something else

Just trying to get sizing correct since I am located in the states and returning the shoes would be a hassle.  And sorry if this is a silly question, just now getting into the shoe game...I am tired of my cole haan's always looking like shit.  TIA

In their MTO, it is listed

• The production time for the MTO's is about 12-14 weeks.

It's a measurement of the length of the sole. It's kind of irrelevant unless you're comparing shoes that have very similar lasts and welt sizes.
If you are unsure of your size I would shoot them an email including either your foot measurements or your size in a popular last (i.e allen edmonds park avenue).

Interesting - especially since all my dress shoes measure out to approx. 290mm from heel to tip.  It would make more since if their measurement was for the actual leather/last (ie: not including the sole/the few mm that reach past the actual tip of the leather).  The AE's I have on now (Vernon's) the length of the actual leather is around the 280mm mark, which is a lot closer to the Meermin sizing.

I have talked to Luisa and she recommended the 6.5UK after sending her my measurements, but I don't want to blindly order $500 shoes without having some kind of comfort knowing they will fit

Not sure if I'm using the right terminology, but I think you guys can get what I'm trying to say....

The measurements are for the last, not the soles of the shoes. Luisa can email you sole measurements.

That makes much more sense and gives me a lot more comfort in the recommendation that Luisa game me.  Thanks wurger

I would so like to see a Meermin full brogue (wing tip) derby. (something like the Loake Badminton/Chester)
Also a plain wholecut.

I guess I have no idea what I'm talking about

Update on the semi-brogue GMTO:
It seems almost everyone who's interested in the order wants to go with copper suede, I've therefore asked Pepe if they can source that colour.
I've also asked if we can have the option of choosing between two lasts in the same order (much like the museum austerity GMTO). The lasts would be Olfe and the new Park last!
Still waiting for reply, just thought I'd let you guys know biggrin.gif

Ps. In the same mail I asked if they could source olive suede for another MTO:

Would anyone be interested wink.gif I think this is the perfect summer shoe!

I would be all over that MTO, I have been looking for a suede tie loafer, but I do not fit well in the 2-3 Carminas I have tried on. I would be in on this in the Hiro last for sure.

The loafer needs to be on the Ron last. It would look a bit odd on the Hiro last.

Okay. Any help on the fit of the Ron last? I always default to the Hiro for the width and instep. As long as it will fit I would be in.

I take the same size in Hiro and Ron. The Ron fit the same initially, but stretched more over time, so it's slightly bigger than the Hiro.

Thank you, count me in for a pair.

For what its worth I am putting together a MTO for the complete opposite piece of footwear. I am looking to have a shearling lined boot done on the Hiro last in a dark brown pebble grain and dark/med brown calf. Essentially a boot similar to the EG Galway with a Medway sole. I have prices from Pepe already and I would need quite a few people to make this happen.

I was going to wait until the summer to put this up on SF so we could time it with the winter. But given the 18+" of snow we will get today I was in the mood. :brick:
