Meermin Mallorca Shoes - Page 602

He was most likely referring to VAT which we outside of the EU do not have to pay. Most european makers include VAT in their normal prices and then remove it if shipping outside the EU.

Thanks mate! But does the VAT apply to the MTO cost too or just the shoes itself?

He probably meant duty fee, which is about $40
I don't have duty fees/custom fees when I receive shoes from Meermin (I've order two pairs already). I meant VAT because I'm trying to see if the MTO process is worth it for me based on the shoe I want.

To my understanding there should be VAT included in the MTO cost as well as generally VAT applies to both products and services (this is a service). Then again Spain is a different animal altogether and seeing how they run their finances, I'd not be surprised if VAT is not applied to the 100 € MTO cost. In any case it is only few euros.

Yeah that's exactly what I thought. Yeah it isn't much, I was just curious. It is really only a difference of $25US so it isn't really all that bad.

Thanks konda, I do appreciate it!

There is one thing I wish Meermin did...post what color of leather/suede they offer for their MTO shoes. Similar to what bespoke-england does for the Gaziano & Girling shoes they offer.

Yeah, Geran. I'm pretty sure there's VAT on the MTO charge but not 100% By my reckoning you'd be about $450 delivered

Thanks OzzyJones for the reply. Yeah my calculations are around $450US which isn't too bad for a MTO shoe.

Now I'm just waiting to get an email about what leather and suede they offer before making my next order smile.gif

Just got hit with $35 customs charge from FedEx here in the US. I've been keeping up with this thread for a while and don't remember hearing about folks getting hit with customs in the US. Thoughts?

FedEx frequently hits you with customs charges

Yes, I was hit with similar $30-40 charge.  This was frequently discussed on this thread awhile back.  Almost everyone in the US seems to get hit with this, to varying extent.

Thank you.

My first order, I bought a pair of Classic line shoes for $220. FedEx hit with me with a $129 customs charge. At the time, I had no idea what it was for since I had already returned the shoes several weeks earlier and I thought someone had stolen my card number. I didn't receive the customs invoice in the mail until a few days after I disputed the charge and got a new card.

My last order, I bought two pairs of LM shoes and FedEx sent me an invoice for $0.

YMMV.

My Meermin 2nds. You can see a little piece missing on the sole which I am not happy about. Trying to get them to pay for the cobbler repairs on that since it wasn't mentioned in ebay description or in the pictures.

^^^ What last is that?

Ben according to the ebay auction.

It's medium width, but accommodates my wide feet well. These are going to be my new interview shoes.
