Meermin Mallorca Shoes - Page 475

One more time on the sizing - yesterday, I just casually slip only into the left shoe, suspecting that the right one is skewing my perception of both shoes and it was justified. The left shoe fits quite well, it's incredible how far it is from the right shoe, i.e.how much the leather has stretched on the right one.
So the size was correct (7,5 UK).
Well firstly you would need to establish what the width of your feet actually is. I.e what last width you are. If you are of a narrow width (US A, B, C or UK D, E) then in the Meermin price level your options are limited to Allen Edmonds, Meermin and I would also consider Florsheims in (very) select models. If your feet are regular and above (US D, E etc or UK F, G), then you have a lots of alternatives: basically any manufacturer you like (AE, Meermin, Florsheim, Loake, Sanders, C&J, Septieme Largeur, Wildsmith, Alfred Sargent etc etc).
Upon knowing the correct width of your feet there are lots of "Appreciation threads" on Style Forum. I suggest checking those out and asking about different lasts in those threads. From those you should also find which lasts work well for a low and/or high instep and which don't. I can only help out when it comes to Allen Edmonds or Meermins as I am, as a broke ass white collar worker, stuck in these because of my narrow feet of US 14 B / UK 13 D.
All Alden shoes are made on combination lasts to provide for a better heel fit. Alden shoes have a double letter width marking found next to the size marking. The first letter represents the heel fit and the second letter represents the width of the shoe.
I looked at the measurements I got from using the AE sizing chart and interestingly, W8 for size 8 is considered US E, which is wide. So yeah, I have wide feet but quite narrow heels and possibly low instep...

I received the country calf boots today, which I ordered back in May. They are quite nice and I'm relieved they fit :) Took my normal size, UK7.5. Someone asked me to post some pictures, so here's a few. Just iphone photos.

If I have to say anything, it's that the colour is a bit more light brown than I expected. The colour proved a little hard to photograph, but the first and third picture are the most accurate. I thought they would be more reddish brown than they are. Maybe I will try to polish with a more red wax later on..
I actually think these will look even better once they get some wear and creases. They are the kind of boots that I think look better when they are slightly beaten up.
They'll invoice you but you don't have to pay 'til they're ready to ship
Have a nice break in your battle for gaining an space in this fascinating shoemaking world. Only a little question before locking the doors: do you have in your catalogue any blue navy single or double leather monk? I only see a suede Monk and a leatherOxford in this colour. Thanks!
We are preparing a Navy Naturcalf new double monk on the OIfe last, that is one of the new additions which is on its way!
We'll keep you updated on that!
Thanks for your interest & kind comments Sir.
