Meermin Mallorca Shoes - Page 456

I just received my order of Blue suede double monks 2 months after the order was placed. Luisa was great and kept me posted every time I inquired about the status. My disappointment stems from the fact that after all this wait the fit is off after measuring my foot and confirming the size I ordered a pair in 10.5 UK. The right shoe fits like a charm however the left shoe feels like a half a size or so large. I put the sole to sole and physically they look tge same size. When I try to walk the heel almost come off. I emailed Luisa and she advices to install insoles. Any other suggestions will be welcome. Thanks

I have double monks with rubber dainite sole, so it's pretty stiff when you first wear it. Was also getting heal lift especially with my smaller left foot as well. I find for my foot the toes and balls fit snug but the heel of the shoe is loose with the Hiro last and by nature of the monk straps, it can only be tighten so far.

Do you have a large gap between your actual heel and heel of the shoe? If not just wear them in. It took me several wears to work them in and they are fine now. I can probably use a thin insole on my left foot, but it's fine either way.

Luckily for you I am wearing my Meermin double monks today. Here are a couple of pictures of my left foot, one flat and one with heel lifted for your comparison to your fit.

Looks similiar but not exactly the same as the last MTO on the Meermin's tumblr page.

These.
They belong to the little brother of one of my best friends. He wanted a tattoo artist to have a go at them but that didn't work out.

The sole isn't the problem, it's the last.  To me, it looks like this last shape is too narrow across the ball of your foot, so what you've ended up with is a pair that are effectively a size too big - addressing that problem, but making the heel too slack - hence the slippage - and the toe too long so that it looks like it's not quite part of the shoe.

Such is life with ordering RTW shoes online, and I'm sure we've all got shoes that fit better or worse than others.  My advice: don't buy shoes on this last again, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try any of their others.  Ask for some advice on which lasts might be wider in the forefoot, in which you might be able to size down.

Oh, I think the picture makes it look worse than it is. I had my socks pulled up and I was leaning while seated for the picture. I think when I am walking normally I do not get any heel lift on my right foot (bigger foot) and probably a few mm of lift in the left. I got much more lift when the shoes were new and stiff.

I agree though, I'm not a huge fan of the Hiro last shape and look, and yes the heel for this last is too big, though again with monks I can only tighten the heel area so much with the straps. Next time I might try the Ama last sized down by 1/2 size. We'll see if Meermin can clarify how the last fits at the heels vs. toes. vs. balls. Also, my next pair are probably loafers, so I'm curious to see how their loafer lasts fit around the heel as it's even more important to have a snug fit at the heels with loafers.

I took it to the shoe repair place and even he mentioned something not right because there substantial room at the back of my left shoe and the heel. It's like the shoe is close to half or a full size larger. Even with an insole it does not rectify the problem. So now I have to install an insole and a piece leather stitched on the inside of the heel area. Add another $45 to the cost. Quite disappointed especially considering the wait time, the overall quality finish of the product and such a terrific fit on my right shoe. Alas I highly doubt I will be ordering another pair.

Are your feet different sized? Hard to imagine shoes having an issue like you described

In hindsight, I'm glad it took Meermin two months to have my order ready for shipment.  It gave me enough time to come to the realization it was worth it to pay the extra $100-150 to get Carmina and avoid the possibilty of quality control issues with poor or no customer service to remedy the issue.  I'm sure I'll buy another pair from Meermin in the future when they have their customer service act together.  Frankly, the quality control issues don't bug me nearly as much as the issues people on this thread experience trying to get Meermin to fix problems.

Not that easy to scale the operations to support SF buying craze.
