For those keeping score, my UPS note says I owe $41. Bummer.

Maybe the Ben last or we will try to modify an existing last for it to be more chiseled. Am thinking of a modified Olfe last

Edit: I have sent out a PM asking for your details to those who have inquired about the hatchgrain Meermin MTO project. Am building up the list; so those interested do send me a PM biggrin.gif

Received my MTO shipment today! Everything is peachy except for the extra $93 from customs and UPS. I took a bunch of photos for the forum to share in the unboxing of the shoes!

Thanks for setting this up, terrorsquad and Pepe!

I might email Pepe and see if they are willing to do group MTO in museum calf with a smaller minimum order number. God those look fantastic. So do the hatchgrain wholecuts as well.

The museum calf was 360 including vat, shipping to UK and steel toetaps.

Papa, as previously stated, 25 order minimum for this leather is because Ilcea won't supply it in smaller quantities. I think there's enough love for it to get enough orders if you put a group together

93 bucks is painful! You'd be better using a proxy at that rate!

I think there are more elegant lasts than the Olfe (sans modification). From the picture, it looks quite bulbous:

Olfe looks vaguely similar to the Ama, which if you see below, pales in comparison to the New Rey:

Are you sure that's Rey? Looks like Vil to me.

That's what the picture said. Ama v New Rey -- but I don't know for sure, so you might be right.

Okay, let me temper my response: I think there are BETTER lasts than the Olfe. It's a fine last in and of itself, but in comparison with other lasts, I think there might be better.

I had to size up by 1/2 on New Rey though because it's quite sleek and I have a wide forefoot.

The Ben last, on the other hand, based on these comparative pictures below from Chogall, looks pretty decent.

Though I'd welcome TS modifying the Ben further. I'm sure he can take the next MTO to the next level, where others cannot.

Apologies on getting the price wrong.

I remember you saying about the minimum order quantity. I was hoping the popularity would result in Meermin taking the risk on ordering the leather before people had ordered shoes.

I may just have to run a group order myself!

The museum calf would make for a beautiful belt too.

I for one would be interested in a second run of the museum calf oxford, preferably with the exact same specs as before.

@bboys, the olfe is beautiful in real life, and most definitely not bulky. Bulkier compared to the vil or new ray sure, but bugger all people can fit in to them!
^I'm sure it's a fine and beautiful last on it's own smile.gif

Have no doubt about that! It's the comparison with the other lasts that matters! How do you find the Ben last?
