Meermin Mallorca Shoes - Page 366

Depends on the brand: some makers (C&J, JL, EG and GG) use E as "medium" width, but their lasts tend to be on the narrower side to start with. An Edward Green UK "E" is in my experience a lot narrower than, say, an Allen Edmonds American "D".  Perhaps these more upmarket makers equate slim with stylish, and so err on the narrow side.

Others e.g. Church's, Cheaney, Barker, Loake, Grenson etc etc, use "F" as medium and "E" for narrow.  Personally I also find Church and Cheaney's "F" on the slim side.  Last vary, of course.  Oh, and Tricker's shoes come with numbers - 5 is medium, 6 wide, etc.  And John Lobb, although they use "E" for medium, then use "EE" instead of "F" for wide.  You'll also see FX (Barker for instance), meaning not quite wide, but a generous medium, and EX for a stingy medium.  But in general, for all those mid-market brands, "F" is medium and "G" is wide, and unless it's sized American, "E" is definitely narrow.  Church's are the only one of those I can think of that even make a narrow "E" fitting as a matter of course.

So it's a bit of a minefield.  But I'm pretty sure if Meermin say "E", they mean narrow as in the UK, or medium as in the meaner makers (!), and definitely not wide, as in the US measurements.  Anyway, ask them...

Received mine too. Just a reminder, those who paid for the lasted shoe trees will be getting it a bit later as its not finished yet; Pepe will send it separately with the shipping cost borne by Meermin

I did not ask but I'll try to get an estimate from Pepe on how long it will take. The shoe-tree maker is flooded with orders at the moment from other well known brands;at least that was what I was told.

Will start working on the hatchgrain project once everyone gets their museum calf MTO; I want feedback from all of you guys on what can be improved when you get your shoes so I can convey it to Pepe. Top on my list right now is getting a more chiseled last for the hatchgrain project.

Plum museum will be considered; in my mind it will look nice as a single or double monk smile.gif But I will try to make to make each new MTO even better then the last one.

What started out as a great relationship has turned into an absolute nightmare.  Shipping to incorrect addresses, sending the wrong size(s), no response unless you borderline stalk, etc.

I own four pairs of Meermins; I dont think I will buy again. Takes to much effort at this point.

In my experience, the Hiro last is wider than a C width and is probably a D width in US measurements. My right foot is 13C in Allen Edmonds, and a 12 in Hiro last was too wide.

My dub monks were delivered last night. Ordered March 29, shipped May 2, delivered to Pennsylvania last night. I like them a lot so far and will post pictures and a more detailed review at some point. I ordered 7.5UK and the fit seems good on carpet. I wear 8 in Barrie, 8.5 in AE 5 last, and 7/7.5 fits well on the Forest last. So I would say order your US size on the UK scale (1 size down).
