Meermin Mallorca Shoes - Page 319

Good evening fellow connoisseurs.

For those of you who've experienced both calf leather and cordovan from Meermin, how would you compare the two? Which offers most value? I've read that the cordovan is inferior to that of Horween, how much? In terms of money spent. (Compared to Carmina i.e.).

Thanks.

Hope Meermin need work harder on QC though price is attractive, it is juz my little complaint.

Hi did anyone come across this ? Cracking along the welt?

I'm thinking of ordering the light brown calf long wing (101375) but am unsure of my size. I normally wear a US 7D (UK 6E). These are on the Rui last and the width is EE. Should I go down a half size to a UK5.5?
What is the fit like on this last and overall quality? Thanks for your help.

You could send your measurements to Meermin and see what they say. Some people have had good luck with their advice.

You do realize that there is now way anyone can give an objective answer to this because you are asking what individual value propositions are? If you prefer cordovan as material, you buy cordovan. If you are stingy or prefer calf, you buy calf. Just remember that you can not get ultra premium quality with these prices but a good compromise to, for example, AE.

Both materials are worth what they cost but being two different things they can't really be compared.

I just received my pair of light-brown calf penny loafers. As promised, here are some pictures:

I only have one other pair of quality shoes, Kent Wang's plaintoe balmorals, and I have worn them a handful of times; so I'm not very knowledgeable about shoes. The Kent Wang's I have are a size 10.5 (marked UK 9.5). Those fit great. These loafers are a UK 9.5, and at first they struck me as a little tight. I feel like I could have gone up a half size. On the other hand, if they do break in some then I think they will fit quite right. I'm just not sure how much give there will be. At first I tried them on with a pair of loafer socks and the shoe pressed on my heel quite uncomfortably (which I read about earlier in this thread). Wearing them with the socks pictured, the heel feels absolutely fine. So hopefully if I break them in with the sock, I will be able to wear them "sockless" in time for the warmer weather.

Seems to be a common issue. My pair of dub monks did this after the first wearing.

When did you get your double monks?  I know Meermin was having some QC issues about a month ago but thought they were pretty well cleared up at this point.  Maybe that's just wishful thinking since I got a pair in today and haven't had a chance to wear them, yet.  I'll definitely post if they do end up having problems.

Just wanted to let you know that I finally received my shoes last week. Meermin apologized for the delay and they sent me the exchange pair via FedEx Express. I really hope that this was a singular issue. Seeing all those great pictures, I can barely resist ordering another pair soon. However, I will first need to check the current pair regarding possible squeaking or sole splitting issues (as this obviously has not been completely resolved so far).

Best regards

got hit with a $174.50 fee from fedex of which $168.00 is duty. The price of the shoe is marked at 448. It seems like their may been in error in calculating the duty (i hope), because 30% seems high.

Exactly one year ago, I sent Meermin $532 for a pair of MTO jodphurs which were eventually exchanged for a pair of MTO double monks.
Add the $168 and the CA use tax bill i got hit with ~ $50.

Im looking at $750 for that pair of Meermin which is unfucking real
