Meermin Mallorca Shoes - Page 304

I need some pros and cons regarding the york sole in comparison to the full rubber. York is something I've got no experience with..

Enough of the waffling over not being able to try them in person...

I decided I might as well order a pair of double monks and start my waiting.

True story.

If you use Allen Edmonds, I can give you pretty nice comparison between AE and Meermin sizes and lasts...

I did, and I asked them the question before I placed my order. They said to size down a full size for the classic line or half size for the maestro.

I like to nominate the EG dover as the design to use for the hatchgrain.

Wait... are they saying that if one has a UK 9 on the HIRO last in Classic Collection, a Linea Maestro HIRO shoe would be an 8.5?

Comparing to my US 14 B AEs, I'm a UK 13 on HIRO and AMA (providing the E and E+ widths would fit well, which they not do) and UK 13.5 on the Linea Maestro New Rey E-. But that's only because of the design of the New Rey last.

For all of you comparing AE to Meermin I have to say, that the New Rey last fits me the best compared to any RTW or MTO shoe I've ever worn. The New Rey is a US B or even a B- in width and is perfect for low instep feet. It's actully so perfect for a low instep B that if the size of your shoe is 0.5 too large, it doesn't really matter. The last is so snug.

For people interested in an MTO, I'm putting the following combo forward next or the following week.

Last: New Rey

Style: double monk

Color: Snuff suede

Stitching: exactly as in this picture

Other details: exactly as in this picture

Sole: York sole or full rubber. Have not decided yet as I need to hear some feedback about the York sole.

+1
Count me in for that EG Silverstone MTO!

Anyone ever order shoes in different sizes? I'm a 13.5C left, 13C right in US sizes. I guess people typically size to the larger foot, but most places don't make a 13.5. My left foot is scrunched in a 13 and my right foot is swimming in a 14. I'm inclined to try out the MTO program. I've been looking for a black cap-toe oxford for months.

Am I correct in saying it sounds like the Olfe last might be the best fit?

This is what they were recommending. If your size in AE is X, they recommended X-1 in the classic line and X-0.5 in the maestro.

Isn't this more a function of the lasts typically on the shoes from each line? The New Rey is a lot narrower and more prevalent on the Maestro line. I don't think shoes that are the same size and on the same last would fit differently just because of classic vs maestro.

I thought it was odd, given the same notions about lasts, but I took their advice, and we'll see how it turns out.

Keep in mind that until recently, all Linea Maestro models available on their website were in the New Rey last and none of the classics were available in that last.

This. That sizing advice is going from AE to New Rey last.
