There weren't any shoe trees or anything else in there? Where are you located?

Damn, that sucks man. I should tell my gf so she'll let me stock up before we move back to Vancouver.

Current waiting times seem to depend mostly on the requested model. My exchange pair still hasn't even been shipped yet (Ama wholecuts). Meermin got to know about the defect on December 19, my shoes arrived at their place on January 14.

So you can either be "lucky" and wait about 30 days or wait a while longer...

That amount of duty is just plain stupid.  I got hit with $36.00 here in the US and was okay with it but $137 is downright extortion.  Is there anything that can be done about it?

I imagine the costs would be a lot higher since you're not buying in quantity.  Maybe Meermin will switch to Horween if enough customers request it.

Sounds like Meermin is no longer an option for Candians.

It's probably fedex brokerage fee + duties + sales tax, sounds about right.

Further updates from Pepe on the MTO. He has agreed with to incorporate the proposed changes regarding the positioning of the eyelets and has ordered the changes ASAP.

Some museum calf pics/porn as promised and provided by Pepe which is ready to be clicked:

Actually there is a trick. What we've done before, is go to the Fed Ex location and tell them we want to clear the item ourselves. Basically you ask for the shipment manifest, and make sure you have proof of payment, and you go to the local customs office and they clear it for you, thus no brokerage. I have done it before and I will get my father to do it tomorrow. I should be only paying the $52 dollars in taxes, not $137.

Probably not what you want to hear, but goods from Spain will probably have duty on top of HST (or PST+GST depending on where you are). Depending on how rigid Customs is feeling, of course.

Right...forgot that..wow, this is hurting. Calculated it out and it will be just over $100. I should have just sent them to my cousin in Germany and saved a bit.
