If those are a sneak peak of the Balmoral boots I've been whining to them about over the last 3 months, I am fired up.

Those are rad.

Is this the burgundy with brown suede? If yes, is there a reason you didn't go with dark brown calf with dark brown suede instead?

I didn't want to. Why do you ask? I would have gone with EG for that combo. I wanted to try a MTO pair for A LOT less than any of the big boys.

Has anyone ordered any Meermin shoes in the cuero shell cordovan? How do they compare to say alden ravello shell in colour etc?

It's too bad their cordovan shoes are on very ordinary lasts...

Fingers crossed on duty.

I am in the process of trying to figure out which last would be most suitable for me out of the Meermin range.

I have tried the 348 last in Crockett & Jones (Hallam), with the following noted:

  • 6.5 UK fits slightly narrow, particularly around the little toe area, length is fine; and
  • 7 UK fits slightly loose, especially around the heel of the foot (slippage)

I emailed Luisa at Meermin regarding sizing and she subsequently provided me with the following response:

  • "In our measures 41EU=7.5UK=25.8cm and 40EU=7UK=25.4cm"

I've measured my foot and it measures 26.5cm long and 9.6cm wide at the widest point, hence my confusion (as I take 6.5~7UK in C&J).

Here is the trace of my foot for reference:

With the information above, would anyone be able to recommend me a suitable last to try?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Try one of the wider lasts.  email Pepe for recommendations.  Definitely not those super narrow lasts for sure.

I am on the same boat for C&J 358 last (hg of 348) and JL 7000/8000, 9.5E slightly too long/loose at heel and 9E too narrow.  Workable w/ 9E if its not a captoe.

I posted pics earlier in the thread, check them for cuero color

Ravello also has a bunch of shades so hard to compare

Not at home at the moment so pics to follow when they arrive here's the finished Austerity Brogue. Think they have done a great job and just what I wanted

umm . . . wouldn't that be because the only cordovan shoes they offer are in very traditional styles?  Longwings?  Split-toe blucher?  Tassel loafers?  And, for what it's worth, the longwings and plaintoe appear sleeker than Alden or AE.

I think your complaint is more that they need to introduce some more styles in cordovan, which would be nice.  As it is, I'm currently eyeing the longwings as a potential kop.
