To follow up, I purchased a pair of cap toes in the Hiro last. Unfortunately, the heel area is so tight on one shoe that I developed a major blister on my inner heel within a few minutes of wear; skin actually came off and I could barely walk without wincing. Will this get better as the shoes break in or am I doomed?

My Hiro suede double monks were brutal, I know your pain. But they did break in and get better.

Guys, does any of you have these balmoral boots? If yes, what is the opinion?

Anyone have any advice for how to get my shoes to stop squeeking? my LM hiro double monks start squeeking after I walk in them for a few hours at work. How can I get this to stop? They're like entirely broken in and quite comfortable, except for that damned squeek come 2pm every day.

That's great to know, gives me hope! Any idea on how many wears before the leather starts to give?

:embar: at 2 pm every day??.

I can only speak for the LM and Museum calf (2 pairs).  For the first wears they have been squeaking loud all around (upper leather/inside componets...do not think the shanks have shifted) and my heels were suffering the stiffness of the plastic heel stiffener, although fit was quite fine.  Talcum powder and some conditioners did not mitigate the jungle sound. They took me to break in about 15 wears, but finaly they are doing fine.  Even if the fit is fine, they take a hard and some time to tune up so  I can understand why some people hates them.  Its not my case, I am very happy so far.  If your problem continues, may be there is a problem with the shanks and must take them to a cobbler to inspect inside components. Good luck.

I wore mine for a long (and bloody) day around the city tongue.gif They only need a few more wears after that. I'd say 10 or so wears would probably be the end of it. Get some moleskin to put on if they're rubbing you the wrong way.

Maybe your feet start to sweat at 2pm. Have you tried talcum powder for where the shoe is squeaking?

Dress shoes

AE Strand - Walnut
AE Lasalle - Chili
AE Kenilworth - Dark brown
AE Players - Navy
AE Larchmount - Black

Boots

AE Banchory - Navy

I don't wear suits for work. I wear a dress shirt and pants (Business casual) and on casual fridays, it's normally chino's or jeans.

@7 Rocket, judging by your current lineup, I second @mbaltazar's suggestion.
