Is this expensive? I've had a pair of Vass shoes that I still after a year haven't had the opportunity to properly break in, and I'm suspecting something similar in these. I should've brought it up on delivery, but expected it might be something that would disappear once worn properly, only I haven't gotten that far.

Edit: Or rather, the shoe seems to behave like a whoopee cusion, expanding air through god knows what when bended or squeezed, making a "pssh" sound.

1/ DARK BROWN LAMA CALF

2/ OAK ANTIQUE & BROWN COUNTRY CALF

3/ OAK ANTIQUE CALF & BROWN SUEDE

I have the Oak Antique & Brown Country Calf and wear them both casually to smarten up a pair of jeans and formally with either a navy or charcoal suit. I've been really pleased with them since I've got them and the rubber sole means I'm not afraid to wear them in vile weather. A word of caution however, Meermin's dainite sole can be very slippy on wet polished/smooth surfaces (like those in tube stations) almost ended up on my arse at Bank once or twice...

I have unusually wide feet. My left foot is 26,0 cm long and 11,0 cm wide. How large size of Rui would be optimal width-wise for me and would the length be how big of an issue, do you think the shoe would be wearable? I am thankful for any input.

I just received order from Meermin and I ordered multiple sizes of Double monks on Hiro last to figure out sizing... However each shoe from my order has rounded sole (from side to side).

It's hard to describe but left an right side of sole is in the air and when I walk a feel like I'm walking on ball.

Is it something that will go away after break-in or it's quality issue?

Hi Sir, could you please give us some information on your sizing experience with other brands? Our Rui last is a bit wider than our normal fitting, true to size lasts with more room for the foot. It´s a US E / UK F+ fitting.

Hi Sir, if you normally wear a 9.5D US in dress shoes, you can go on with 8.5 UK in our normal fitting, true to size lasts. In order to get more information, please specify which model(s) you are interested in, or send us an email and we´ll be happy to assist you.

I also had this, which felt even more pronounced with the studded rubber sole.  Happy to report it does flatten out as part of the break in, even on the rubber sole. I imagine leather would be quicker and easier to break in, so put em on and get walking :fonz:

@palodelincak. This issue goes away after break-in period. However not all of my Meermin shoes had this problem initially

I guess not too expensive since I cannot remember well what I paid, but I think that is all relative. If you like the shoes enough and you find a shoe repair store that is competent enough I think it is well worth the money to add some more life to the soul.

I thought I escaped the DHL customs but it looks like it is an additional $22 to my recent purchase of the dark brown suede oxfords.

My first post in this thread. After much debate and reading here I snagged a pair of classic line brown cap-toes. I sized down .5 from my brannock measurement for the Hiro last and they are quite big. The length is not too long but there is a lot of volume. Best solution for me was a thin full-length insert.

Anyway, the classic line from Meermin is a good value in my opinion. I would still like to try the Linea Maestro when I get the chance.

Wearing these today.

Very nice! I just got these (101482?) in black last month, do yours have the rubber studded sole?  I haven't seen them in brown, were they an MTO group?

Thanks, these were purchased well more than a year ago, and were a standard offering at the time. I noticed that the website lineup has changed a lot since then. It is the same shoe as the 101482 in brown, and a leather sole.

I added a touch of black burnish to the toe, here a some other shots in different lighting (cheap iPhone pics).

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

And here's the Linea Maestro model I had my eye on before.

Warning: not my photos (Click to show)
