Thanks. Did you get the Hiro lasted one or the newer one (Elton last I think)? Also if you're able, would be great to see current pics.

I think it may have been the Ama last.

Snuff Double Monks on Hiro

Hy guys. I just registered on styleforum and don't know much about rules on posting but long story short, i need help on getting my first boots ever and I cannot find exact info anywhere on forum. I decided that I will go with Meermin Mallorca country calf chestnut boots.

My main problem is - I never had leather shoes or boots, so I have no idea what size to pick.I also don't have any chance to get measured with brannock device. I know I wear size 42,5 EU sneakers, and that's all. I have outsole and last insole sizes for UK 8,5 and 9 UK for lenght and width, for RUI last.

Any help would be great, so thanks in advance.

P.S. Sorry for spelling or grammar mistakes

Greetings from Croatia

Dobro dosli, Jure. 42.5 is ~9UK, but the Rui last is on the wider end of the spectrum, and I think most people size down 1/2 a step from their sneaker size. I would guess the 8.5 would work best in your case, but perhaps someone with more Rui last experience can chime in.

Thanks for greeting me on my mother language :) I also would like to hear someone with RUI last experience, and tips on sizing. Also, I think size 9UK is 43 EU. My perfect sneaker size is 42,5 EU so, I guess 42 for boot, 8UK would be maybe good choice.

I would preffer more narrow boot, like hiro last, but they only make them on RUI. Also, would you recommend more narrow or shorter boots for 5.7 feet guy?

Just tried to measure my foot using paper technique. It's harder than it looks like on youtube xD

I ended up with aprox. 262-263 mm in lenght and 103 mm width. Measured wearing socks after 10 minute walk.

These are RUI sizes for 8.5UK or 42+ EU

L 306 mm shoe outsole 8.5UK

W 108 mm shoe outsole 8.5UK

L 288 mm last insole 8.5UK

W 103 mm last insole 8.5UK

Foot 26.8 cm 8.5UK

And here is the same thing but size 8UK:

L 302 mm shoe outsole 8UK

W 107 mm shoe outsole 8UK

L 284 mm last insole 8UK

W 102 mm last insole 8UK

Foot 26.4 cm 8UK

What would fit more? I would preffer snug fit so when break in period goes aways, everything is where it should be.

Hey do MTOs usually run on time? They promised periodic updates but I have not received any information so far ...

In my experience the only updates you get from Meermin are the order confirmation and shipping confirmation.

If your MTO says it will be shipped November 2015 you may end up receiving it early December 2015.

Both of my MTOs were shipped at the end of their respective months, even though it might say "November" rather than "Late November".

Thanks for getting back to me! Since they're sending two pairs at the same time, one in October and one in November, I guess I have to wait until December

Searched the thread a bit but couldn't quite find what I was looking for. Do any of you have any advice or reference for the classic collection Hiro last balmoral oxfords w/r/t the closed lacing closing all the way / instep et cetera?

I wear a 7.5 UK in Loake Capital last, if that helps - they close up perfectly, but barely so. I can't stand when bal oxfords don't close all the way and it's not like I could easily return them...

Can anyone comment from on the Elton last? How's the fit compared to Hiro or, say, Carmina Rain last? Thanks.

I have tried both elton and hiro last double monks. Hiro last fits tighter around the instep but the heelcup is looser than elton. Lengthwise, Elton is a bit longer too. Hiro fit pretty snug around the toebox but the back part is pretty lose. I would say Elton fits better than Hiro, at least with my feet.

Thank you sir. Sizing is weird for me. I wear a 9.5UK in Hiro last and the instep is alright but I have minor heel slip. Granted the pair I own are suede monks. Not sure if I should size down on Elton.

Its pretty hard to get my feet into the elton last when they were new because of the stiffness, but now its better and comfortable. IMO, I would not suggest you to size down.
