And how about that Pepe and Jose? the service from Meermin is great, it really is. every time they respond you can sense the care and effort they place into every order. and yet in the past couple of weeks, this thread has been littered with complaints of shipping delays and "ignored" emails. just take it easy, Meermin is growing and with it comes some growing pains. just 6 months ago this thread was just a handful of pages long, and only 3 months ago, Meermin hadnt even a webpage. I can only imagine how many inquires they began receiving when folk caught wind of the great Meermin cabballero: makers of $500 shoes at just a fraction of the price

what a deal!

Totally concur nod[1].gif

The "fraction" you are looking for is 1/2.

It isn't as if these shoes are comparable in quality to a $1000 shoe.

I've seen English shoes that are of a better construction for a similar price, Loake 1880 come to mind.

I have to beg to differ i'm afraid, i have had and have 1880 line shoes and both the construction and finish of the Meermins i have is remarkably better. Although i am by no stretch of the imagination a leather expert, the leather on the Meermins is to my eye and feel, again, better. I know it probably isnt but it looks and feels very similar to a couple of pair of C&J Handgrades i own. The test of course is how they hold up and wear over a period of time and that has yet to be proven so we'll see.

I know i know sometimes this is a little subjective but below is a couple pics of Meermin DM alongside C&J Handgrade Semi Brogue and to my untrained touch smell sight does the Meermin really look a third of the price shoe????

The leather for the Loake 1880 line is far inferior to Meermin's. Both me and my father have about a total of 6 shoes from the 1880 line and even with good shoe care they show signs of the lower quality leather - it creases and almost feels like nappa leather. I actually posted two pics of it in the Rock Your Socks thread showing some of the weird creasing.

How do these compare to Carmina ? Meermin is 170 euros shipped while Carmina is 312 euros. Did anyone having both share his thoughts ?

I tried searching for Carmina but since Carmina is in the thread title, every post in the thread is returned in search results

I guess you're talking about the classic line from Meermin... Carmina has better leather and better finishing. I also find their lasts much nicer.

But I also believe Meermin offers a better value.

If you want a fare comparison, you should compare the LM to
Carmina, imo.
The particular design I am considering is not available in the LM

MTO it is, then.
What's the up charge for MTO ?
50€ (on top of the LM price -- Classic models will be produced by LM standards when MTO).
