Anyone else get this notification from Fedex?

Reason For Delay:
1. Shipment requires importer’s registration/identification number for clearance. (Examples include EIN, SSN, VAT, GST, RFC, etc.)
Recommended Action:
Importer must provide the required registration/ identification number.

I've had that happen before with Fedex.
They'll want you to fill out an Importer of Record form.
I think this is it http://forms.cbp.gov/pdf/CBP_Form_5106.pdf
It seems kind of shady since it requires SSN but it's legit.
There's some other footwear specific form you may or may not need to fill out.

Call Fedex Trade Network and ask.
They seem to only be open regular business hours (eastern time).

Chances are you're going to be hit with the $25 brokerage fee + $5 advancement fee + 9% or so duty.
They'll bill you in a week or so.

I got the same notice, they asked what the 35 eu charge was, I told them shipping.

received shoes with no duty or brokerage fees.

Yeah, I got something like that as well. They gave me a call later in the day though (FedEx, not Meermin), and the questions were about the shoe trees.

I got an invoice from FedEx the other day for customs fees and duties in the post, as well. About 2 weeks or so after receiving my shoes.

How much were customs and duties? I'm thinking about ordering and would like to know the real, full cost of shipping.

I am in the market for 2 pairs of meermin classic line. I want to primarily wear them with jeans and sometimes I wear slacks. Reccomendations of shoe+color?

I agree that the double monks are amazing, but they are not for everyone.

I don't like PTB's at all, but that's just a personal opinion, it seems to be an american obsession. No reason to stay away from double monks, but they require much more than the regular (poorly fitted/"dad) jeans and polo.

Edit: Made it a little more clear.

Any particular reason to stay away from the double monks other than you may not like that particular style??

It's just a bit more difficult to pull off. From Meermin's linea classic offerings the most suitable/ least uptight options for jeans and slacks are indeed the suede boots or the derbies. Of course, a stylish guy will be able to get away with fancier stuff, in this case a double monk- which our friend Lino of Al Bazar have surely worn with jeans and fancy double breasted blazers. As a general advice, provided also that no one knows how the other person asking looks like, double monks doesn't work as well as the aforementioned boots and derbies to be worn in a jeans/slacks/polo situation. That doesn't mean it wouldn't look good, but it will take a bit more effort.

A.k.a. don't just get them because they're 'hip'. (When did the double monk trend start anyway? Was it ever trendy?)
