Nice - and please do post pictures! :) Considering those myself. Also, if you can comment on the sizing, that would be great.

here we go :)

Meermin Brown Tassle Loafers 8UK

700

700

700

700

as for sizing i wear:
- Loake 026 Last (8UK)
- AE Strands 9D (i would go half size down and go a E as the Last is narrow)

i found these shoes fit perfect, there is nothing to fault them. The only issue i did have, and it could be from my inexperience (never owning a loafer previously) it took me a while to put these on for the first time, But once they were on it was all good.

I have a pair of Loake in 026, so I'll probably go for the same size as those. Thanks for the info.

I've been thinking about these exact black shell shoes too. But if I buy cordovan I partially need the shoes to be durable: that especially is an important reason to buy horsehide shoes. Do you guys think these shoes will be good in this respect or will I be better of splashing a couple hundred more for Carmina shells? This considering I have some doubts about the finishing (especially the brogueing, which I have seen being off in some Meermin shoes) and these not being hand-welted (alas) and generally only finished to classic line standards (alas again). Even if they hold out very long, even minor finishing issues might make me get tired of these shoes earlier than if they were perfect thus decreasing their durability in a sense. On one hand it may be wiser to some regular classic Meermins first but on the other hand shell will not get much more accessible than this (when it comes to price) to try out.

Has anyone purchased and can comment on the black shell shoes? Would love to see some more real-world pics to help push me over the edge.
Personally, I don't think black shell is worth the premium. No patina results, and I feel black looks best with the shine you get on calf, rather than the glow of cordovan.

I placed an order for them along side a pair of MTO boots (I actually go them without the toe cap broguing because I wanted plain cap-toes). This was about 2 months ago so I still don't have them. I think black shell has an amazing glow to it - and if you're not going to go for a mirror shine then shell is a great option! (you can still mirror shine shell, you just need to wait for the shell to get a little older and you may have to re-shine them more often)
