Hi, these look just beautiful! Congrats on a great purchase. One question: how do they fit around the ankles? Are they very tight/narrow because that's the only problem I sometimes have. I'd buy them in a heartbeat if you can convince me of the opposite. smile.gif

Greets from Germany!

David you should ask if this is the case for this MTO. .

We only have one area to vary, and we landed on the option to vary the leather between the pebble and calf. I have been back and fourth with Pepe numerous times and he recommended the Hiro based on the sizing and shearling lining. Hiro will be the last unfortunately.

Oh I see that is unfortunate that he was not willing to vary the last too. I think its a bad call on his part you get many more people to join the MTO and more sales with diff lasts...
(That and I think the olfe is sexier :P)

Hi All,

I also got swept up in the Meermin hype and ordered the tassel brown (maron) loafers on the Ron last from the standard line and the Double Monks in Natur Calf on the Olfe last from the Linea Maestro. Received yesterday after close to a month from ordering and with shipment to Kuala Lumpur. I had to pay 10% customs duty for UPS to even release the shipment to me (200 malaysian rinngit). For reference, I have a pair of Crockett & Jones Tetbury boots on the 348 last which I wear an 8.5uk that I find a bit snug. In checking with the folks at Meermin I ordered a 9uk in both the Ron and Olfe lasts which I believe to be the correct size.

My first impressions are that neither pair are anywhere close to Crockett & Jones in terms of finishing and intangibles of look and feel. The leather quality seems decent, although very stiff. The soles on the Linea Maestro are quite nicely finished, but I spend little time looking at the bottom of my feet. The interior finishing on the mainline is very basic. The last shapes are not as sleek as I was expecting and quite blobby to my eye - this is subjective though I realize. In comparison to the Lowndes dubmonks and Langham tassel loafers both from C&J, I don't find the lasts as attractive (these were the ones I was cross-shopping). Again, I suppose my preference is slightly more aggressive shapes than many in this thread. I wish I would have know the Park dubmonk is coming on a museum calf as that probably would have made me happier. In any case, I'll be keeping both since they fill a couple of holes in my collection, but most likely I will go with a Carmina for my next shoe purchase as the lasts appear to be a bit sleeker and more chiseled which is my preference (again, subjective). For the price, i think they were good buys, but personally I've satisfied my Meermin SF hype beast curiosities. Hope they break in though - they are very stiff out of the box.

Now for the blurry pics - sorry, this is what's going on under my desk.

How is the Park last vs Olfe or C&J 348?

Hi cbfn,

Thanks for your interest!

The Park last does have a regular/medium UK fitting E, one can take the same size as per the Hiro/Olfe.

It is not a very long last, and neither a narrow one, it has a slightly higher instep than the Olfe and the heel are is slightly narrower than a regular one, to have a better support.

We hope it helps!

Thanks!

Thank you, it certainly helps. How is it regarding the width at the toes? The Olfe fits perfectly in half a size up from my usual size.

The Park last is not a narrow one in the toe area, at first, unless you have a very wide feet, it is not recommendable to upsize from your regular size.

Thanks!

Thanks for the update, will email you as I haven't got mine yet.

Just out of curiosity did you rename copper to gold on the website, in terms of belts?

Dark brown museums look great too :)

Hey guys,

has anyone ordered Meermin with Norvegese stitching? What do you think about it? Is it worth an extra expense?
