I think we can proceed with the hatchgrain once everyone receives their shoes. Thanks to OzzyJones for the great recommendation on the source for hatchgrain

I am working on the new list tomorrow; it looks very promising indeed. A guy here in Malaysia put his name in for 4 pairs for his own use.
To quote Christopher Walken, from King of New York, "...I want in!"

Sorry to bump an old post, but I would like some input on these shoes. Long story short...

1. Do these shoes look too wide?
2. For a C width foot, would last would be better to try: Olfe or New Rey?
I'd like to request some sizing advice. For reference:

Brannock device: 13.5C left foot and 13C right foot.
Allen Edmonds 1, 5, and 8 last: 13C fits ok.
Allen Edmonds 7 last: 13C is too tight in left small toe area, and a little short in length.

Not many makers have size 13.5C, so I'm forced to compromise. Luckily some AE shoes are still ok a half size down in length.

I need a black cap toe oxford, but I don't like the Park Avenue very much and would rather have a different cap toe. Part of the appeal of Meermin is they could make a 12.5 UK, so I gave the Classic Collection a shot. I suspected the Hiro last might be too wide but had to try at that price point. I ordered size 12.5 UK - this is not available on the web site, but Luisa told me I could order size 12, then write that I wanted 12.5 in the comments. Unfortunately, they sent me 12 anyway. The left shoe is definitely too short, so I will either be returning these or moving them on via SF.

On D width AE shoes I typically have heel gapping. On these, I don't have gapping, but my ankle bone rubs against the top of the shoe's side on both shoes, so I think this might be another sign they're too wide. The laces are completely closed when I tighten them.

Would others agree they're too wide? If so, there's no point in trying a 12.5 in Hiro.

For my next step, should I try Olfe or New Rey? I haven't found any specific info in the thread on which might fit a C width best.

Olfe, I could try 12153 (punched cap w/ medallion) from the Classic Line or 102461 (punched cap) from Linea Maestro.
New Rey, I could try 10172 (cap toe, no visible stitching) from Linea Maestro.

I'm going to be compromising on the shoe design no matter what - Meermin doesn't have any other option for a standard cap toe with stitching on the cap toe line. I'm wary of paying an MTO upcharge for something that might not fit.

C size is skinny, no?
How can we tell if they look wide? the only way to make that call would be for you to wear a shoe on one foot and nothing on the other.
Do you plan on walking around like that or will you be more conventional and wear both shoes at the same time?

If the shoes are standard width, D? E?, then they will look fine in EVERYONES eyes.

If they are loose on YOUR foot, then that is a different matter.
The NEw Ray is skinny so go with them if the current shoes are too loose.

We were all just a twinkle in our father's eye at one stage...

Have any details about the hatchgrain been tossed around?

Loafer? boot? NST?

Wholecut or chukka leaning towards the latter I believe

Yep we were talking about chukka similar to G&G Arran with unlined top.

Chukka? **** me, I don't even own jeans, or wear shoes when not wearing dress trousers.

I'll keep my ears peeled for the one after the hatchgrain.

What you got in mind? I'm thinking of trying to put one together in hatch too

I'll be in on the hatchgrain in an "EG style Dover" in an Olfe last with Blue lining, single leather sole.

Hahaaa! That's very specific! All except the actual colour of the shoe!
No split (camel) toes from me I'm afraid

I'm not sure what the colour of the hatchgrain would be. I'd be more interested in a mid brown.
