the shoes are probably just produced from the factory. do you find it necessary to clean them already? How are the results?

I only reno shoes that I suspect have been sitting on shevles for a bit ie., AE seconds.

That's great.  Will it show whether or not the shoes displayed are actually available in stock?  Aside from quality control, this seems to be the leading cause of misunderstandings now - people ordering stuff from the website that you don't actually have (my last pair took two months, despite showing as in stock).  Please tie your web ordering system to your stock system - nobody minds waiting a few weeks for their shoes, but it's so important to understand whether they are in stock or on order.  It's just a simple matter of managing expectations, and will improve your reputation greatly.

Hi mimo,

Thank you very much for your comments!

We understand that, and our goal is to have a completely updated stock displayed online, we still working on it. Currently we are asking 30 days to deliver the shoes since some sizes of the of the styles offered are not in stock, but nowadays, we are delivering most of the orders way before the requested 30 days. Said that, we understand that is not the most common way of operating online, but unfortunately is the one we can offer at the moment, but you can be sure we are working hard to improve it asap!

Thanks again for your comments, we really appreciate them!

Habit rather than necessity. For new shoes put a quick coat of reno or cream before I give them a more thorough wax polish.

You could very easily add a bar coding system to real time track your inventory. Would cost you the price of a pair or two of shoes.

Great to hear about the new website and new offerings. Any update on when the new Balmorals will be available on the website. It seems to have been a couple of months since they first popped up on Facebook.

Also great news, is one of the styles the same as the plum museum currently offered?

But if you have a decent pair of shoes in rotation you should not care about gemming. If you do dumb things ( like me) like jog around in your shoes then gemming may lead to an issue down the road. So if you are sitting at an office all day I would not worry about gemming.

I just find it hard to cough of the cash for things that logically are more structurally sound and can be had for similar price ranges.

I hope I helped more than I hurt on this issue.

And if anyone cared here is the pic see where the hold-fast is stitched through? that is handwelting. Gemming will just glue it.

There are advantages and disadvantages. Some of the advantages of the goodyear welt is that the adhesive will also work as a sealant and having a continuous bond from the glue will allow a more even distribution of force. In a handwelted shoe, the force/stress are localized around the holes and holes are always stress raisers that can negatively impact the structural integrity. Bonded/glued construction is used in space industries due to these advantages. As long as a good quality glue is used and applied right, there's nothing wrong with it.

I remember seeing a thread not long ago where a Vass handwelted shoe prematurely failed.

I hope they make a dark brown museum boot on the olfe last.
