Sorry for the noob question, but is it possible/advisable to lighten up this dark brown with a lighter/ more red-ish shoe polish?
Or is putting a lighter polish on a darker shoe always a bad idea?

lighter polish on darker color shoes will preserve the color of the shoes.  afaik, the only natural way to lighten up shoes color will be sun light/oxydation.  otherwise, there's always diluted bleach but that is pretty danerous (google "shoe snob bleach")

Hmmmm... current exchange rate makes them €402. This is a nice surprise, I thought they were at Lobb price levels...

Far from Lobb prices, its starts around $700-750 if you use forum member proxies.  Lobb starts $1150 + $100 trees.

Strange, actually my dark broen shoes are brown/red-ish, depending on the light.

Chemical bleach in indeed a bit too hardcore for me, but the sunlight option seems feasable with a bit of patience by simply storing the shoes on a sunny window still when not in use (I have a magazine that had be lying in the window for a few months - cover almost bleeched white).

Yes, that's more like the color I was hoping for. I guess I'll have to mine out into the sunlight.

Late crosspost. My order arrived the other day, and they got their maiden voyage yesterday. Fit seems good, no discomfort to speak of, and they seem to be holding up well. Of course, this is just one wearing, so we'll see how they hold up compared to my AEs.

Got my Suede Rapello Dub Monks ordered the other day - taking 20 days to ship to the UK - I'll assume it's a demand thing rather than just outrageously slow for a good £20. I'll take 'em for a test drive and give a brief quality/fit assessment for y'all when they arrive

Edit: I'm having a freakout about sizing, Meermin size in UK right? I was advised earlier in this thread to wear my same AS size and I'd just like to make sure I'm receiving the right size seeing as it's taking a month for. delivery

These are nice, are they one of the RTW or an MTO? I seem to remember the RTW oxfords with a medallion were only available in brown, not black.

RTW. They're brown, I swear it, despite what the awful lighting in my cubicle is trying to convince you.

the lacing hole alignment is much less refined than, say, JL or EG.

that's makes all the sense to purchase a pair from them. plus someone in the thread mentioned that they will pay for exchange shipping for wrong size.
