I got a response within an hour today.  Re-send it.  Pepe told me previously that a prior e-mail got caught in their spam filter.

Send them an email they will refund your money or send you another pair.

I took the refund so I could buy another pair of shoes from them.

The spilt is purely cosmetic as these are stitched sole so the split can never open up past the row of stitching.

From my discussion, via email, with Sandro and looking at a pair of more recent shoes, it appears that the splitting problem is a Quality Control issue relating to a

batch of shoes made in the May-June-July period.

Shoes made after August seems to be fine.

Is the sole actually splitting, or is the join between the layers of the sole just lighter because it is wearing a little more than the rest? I can't tell from the photos, but the latter is normal. If that's the case, just put some polish or other edge dressing on to darken the edges of the soles and call it a day.
