Meermin. Carmina 2nd brand? - Page 173

Looking for Meermin sizing help as well. I have a narrow foot and wear:

9.5 Ferragamo Tramezza Burgundy

8.5 E C&J 360 last (Malton) (slightly too wide) Chestnut

9.5 C (narrow) Peal & Co (C&J 240 last) Tan

9/9.5 D (narrow) Edward Green 82 Last Black

The guys at the Armoury reccomended that I order an 8.5 UK in the simpson last.

E-mailed Meermin and got a response from Luisa that I should order a 9 UK in the New Ray last(their narrowest).

What do you guys think? I read through the thread and several suggested they took the same size in the new ray as they did in the simpson...so Im not sure.

Overall, I must say I am pretty happy with the purchase. The shoes are solidly made and more refined than the AE MacNeil I fondled recently in a store.

Ooh, also, since I forgot these are shell: can you compare the finishing/quality of the shell cordovan itself to shoes by other makers using Horween (ignoring construction quality)?

Based on my very limited knowledge of shell cordovan, I would say the Harwoon (based on my RL Marlow) is slightly more refined, but that could be attrubutable to the finish of the shoes rather than the leather. Also, the Meermin shell feels thicker than the Marlow.

I wear a 7 UK in the 348 from C&J, 7 UK in the rain last, and 7 UK in all their stuff but the new rey which i wear a 7.5 uk in

Thanks for the photos. Is it just me or does it seem a bit too wide at the toe area? Makes the Aldens look kinda sleek?

Did you guys make sure to change your PayPal shipping address when you paid? Standard procedure for it to put your billing address when paying for invoices...

The shipping box I received had the shipping address clearly printed on it but the FedEx label had the billing address instead.

On the subject of the Meermin LWB vs the Alden LWB (or perhaps more specifically the Rui last vs the barrie last).

1. How is the fit? Does the rui fit shorter? wider?

2. Can you comment on the snugness of the heel fit? I have been looking for an alternative to Alden, as the barrie last does not seem to agree with me.

Dont think i could ever wear those myself but my god they look very very nice !!! Did you keep those Namor wasnt there an issue of fit ?? Would love to think you made those work for you !!

Thanks Kev, they are some unique looking boots. At the end I had to return them, regretfully. I've since placed another order for a double monk boot in burgundy shell. The wait begins
