Craving A Pair of Wholecuts: Barker Mozart As Alternative to C&J Weymouth?

I have commented quite a bit in several threads on a want for a wholecut, in particular the C&J Weymouth: http://www.crockettandjones.co.uk/handgrade-weymou.html

As beautiful as they are, my one hesitancy as some of you may know is the $600+ hit that will take....

I may still ultimately pull the trigger, but an alternative that was presented to me a few days ago that looks absolutely beautiful is Barker Mozart: http://www.pediwear.co.uk/barker/products/3482.php

Curious as to people's thoughts on the pair (as a standalone and vs. Weymouth) and any experiences one may have had with the pair.

Thanks!

Not a fan of six eyelet shoes.

How about trying Alfred Sargent? I own a pair of Tavistock and they are great. The construction is amazing and the leather is soft. You might want to try AFPoS to see if they have any that you like. You can also avail of their MTO which I think will cost even less than the Weymouths.

I don't care for the Barkers.

I'm not certain that the Barker will look better than, or even as well as, the Weymouth in real life.

I admit that I have limited experience with Barker, but I took a hard look at them in the store a month or so ago and even their finest shoes didn't really 'sing' as well as C&J Handgrades.

Not that they were bad, they just didn't have the same elegance of proportion that C&J puts into their shoes and certainly not the same level of final polish/finish.

you have two options

1/ get the c&j from plal, the price difference between the barker and the cj will be minimal, might as well get the shoe you want

2/ get the c&j from pediwear, and say you are from askandy and you will get a free pair of shoe trees when buying cj shoes

note, pediwear has free shipping on cj shoes, so that closes some of the price gap between the cj and the barker

enjoy your new cj shoes

Herring shoes make some wholecuts, I think they are made under license from Cheaney

OP: I think you are setting yourself up if you are comparing C&J Handgrade with other shoes (e.g., Herring, Cheaney, Barker, etc.) that may not be to the same standard (the latter shoes are good but maybe on the lower end of the C&J quality spectrum). Personally, I think it is worth spending extra to get better quality especially when it comes to leather because wholecuts do not anything to hide excessive creases (I have 3 wholecuts and happy to spend the extra $ for quality).

Thanks dude. I'll keep that in mind.
