I wear a 10E(UK) or 11D(US) in C&J 348 and 341 last; 11.5 in AE Strands, 10.5/11 EG 888 last, 10E Lobb 8000 last and Carmina 10.5 Simpson last was too tight, which would be my size?

I am a EG 10.5 UK 888 and Lobb 10.5E in the 8000 last. My Carmina Inca 10.5 fits me perfectly. I would say the Inca and Rain last should in 10.5 should fit you fine, since they are wider than the Simpson last.

^^ nice.
now for the size question.
i'm a tweener in shoe sizes, I'm an 8.5D on the Alden Barrie, but 7.5UK in my UK sized shoes. i see Mike's size reference of Barrie 8.5 = Carmina 8.
anyone have any reference between the Rain and C&J 337 last?

I'm also interested in a comparison between a 337 fit and the Rain last. Anyone?

I'm a UK 10.5 in C&J 337, and wear Carmina double monks in the Inca last in a UK 11. Just to confuse matters, I take a US11 in Alden's Barrie, and 11.5 in their narrower lasts (ie Plaza, Hampton, Leydon) - which is a little different to Epaulet's advice of size down 0.5 from the Barrie last, and 1 from narrower Alden's - but everyone's feet are different.

Am also UK 11 in G&G's TG73 and DG70, and UK 11 in EG's 82 last if that helps anyone.

All of the above are standard widths.

Have placed an order for these in a UK 11, as I understand the Rain last fits much the same as the Inca. Can't wait! :D

Hmm, that's a tough one. Chances are that you need the 8.5D in the Barrie last because of the length of your foot.

I would feel pretty confident that you'd take a 7.5UK in these. But there is a chance that they'll be too small. The 8UK may be big, but it's not going to be big by too much. Whenever I have customers who special order anything, I always recommend to err on the slightly bigger size. With a tongue pad and a heel counter, you can still get a perfect fit if they feel a bit loose in the beginning.

I've been telling this story quite a bit: I wore the Inca lasted Double Monk in black calfskin for my wedding shoes. I should have ordered an 8.5UK, but I accidentally ordered a 9.5UK for myself. A full size too big. With an insole and tongue pad, I was still able to get a great fit on them. I wear them regularly with normal dress socks. So if you're new to Carminas and you're deciding between two sizes, then I'd err on the side of the bigger one. A half size too small rarely works.

Nice and easy process; placed my preorder earlier this morning. Can't f'ing wait!!!
Chatted with Mike on Saturday about these austerity brogues...So awesome working with him and glad he is so amenable to putting together special orders for us. :slayer:
My next goal is to get that winter calf/suede balmoral boot made that was posted a couple of pages ago. A beautiful boot!

Thanks to everyone who ordered!

And hell yes, I'm all for doing a suede-leather Balmoral boot as well. The one that was pictured is amazing!

^^ i'm already dreaming of navy blue austerity brogues. i die a little inside when i think of a pair of EG Beaulieus i had a few years ago and have since sold.
Mike, do you need to know on our order if we want the lasted trees or not?

I'll follow up with everyone when the shoes are ready to ship out and we bill you for the balance. Pretty sure that everyone who orders is going to want the Carmina shoe trees.

Excellent! Order is in. These are going to be great.
I love the idea of the suede/calf boot. I like cordovan, but don't seem to be as excited about it as many here are.

Thank you!

The Rain last fits larger than the Simpson, so I think that a 10.5UK should work for you. Especially given your 11.5US sizing in the AE Strand. The 11UK would be a totally safe choice, but could fit a little bit large.

Thank you so much! And yes, from everyone who tried on both lasts in our store, we found equivalent sizing between the Rain and the Inca last. The Inca is a tiny bit fuller, but nothing where you would size up or down. It just has a slightly different shape than the Rain.

I'm very comfortable in the same size of 337 and Rain. Rain seems to fit better.

I do not have experience with Alden.

Waiting for Armoury package will have more Carmina experience later this week.

Hey guys,

Just a quick note. We're already at 14 preorders for the Snuff Austerity Brogue, so this style is definitely happening! I'll meet with Carmina today and get a projected delivery window for it. This shoe's going to be amazing, and thanks to everyone who ordered so far!

^^Thanks, I guess the deadline changed to this Friday-Epaulet's post said next Friday.

My mistake...you are correct...its next friday!! From Mike, "For now, we're asking for a $250 deposit to start production. I didn't assign a hard and fast deadline, but I'd ideally like to get the deposits all in by next Friday. That way, we can get our order in along with the other Pitti orders and Carmina can get cracking on it."

What's the deadline to pre-order? I amy have missed it in the thread.
Thanks

The deadline will be next Friday, Jan 20th. We already blocked out the leather with Carmina, so we'll be good to go, and we won't lose any time on production by keeping the window open until then.

And, I had a four hour meeting with Carmina today. I must have shot 200 photos - including comparison shots of every single last. I'll sift through all the photos next week and post up a bunch of things. I have great stuff to show!

Including shots of a brown lizard Chelsea boot. Who's down for that one? :)

Does Carmina have green leather?

Saw these Edward Green Loafers on Leather Soul's website and fell in love.

Haha, yes, they do actually. They've got both a green and navy calfskin. And they could probably burnish the green leather to have all of that shading as well. I dig that look too. And of course there's always Loden Shell Cordovan.
