Epaulet x Carmina MTO - Page 215

Shoe Tree.

I wanted to ask you guys about shoe trees. To date, we've included the Carmina trees with every MTO project style, but to be up front, it's been problematic. The trees add almost $50 to the cost (I just pass that along, I don't mark them up), and we're having major problems getting enough with each order. The last few times, we've been short shipped, and there's really no way to get backordered trees in any kind of reasonable time frame. I had extras on hand, so we were still able to make good on the trees that were owed, but going forward, I'm concerned that a good portion of these shoes/boots will come without matching trees. We do private label trees with Woodlore, and I've started stocking the "Epic" twin tube model. It's nice, it's cedar, and IMO it will be just as effective inside your Carmina's. What do you guys think about us including these instead of the Carmina trees. As a result, we can drop the retail price of all these Fall styles by about $40.

Hey guys!

Thanks for bearing with us - as Matt kindly mentioned, the Hatch Grain leather is fully confirmed and on-order. We can do about 50-60 units, so there's lots to spread around. I'm going to build out the items this evening and (hopefully) activate them with pricing tomorrow provided that Carmina gets back to me with the cost.

For the Hatch Grain List, we've got:

1. Four-eye Chukka
2. Greeley Boot
3. Long Wing Blucher

...

Will the chukka have a Dainite sole? Please?

Also, do you have a picture of the 4-eye chukka? I've only seen 3- and 5-eyelet chukkas from Carmina.

How well do Woodlore trees fill out the heel?

Totally for woodlore trees in the future.

I have 3 pair of woodlore epic shoe tree for my carmina and their just as great fitting as the Carmina's shoe tree.

Im excited to see the Loden sample. If its anything like the Greeley navy where it seems like a black boot till it reflects light causing the deep navy to sparkles or if it has just a tad more green pigment then we have a winner.

Any word on that burnished burgundy austerity from a few weeks ago that seemed to have a lot of momentum?

Edit: Epic trees are more than fine for me.

Does the change affect the already paid pre-orders?

Here's a brutally quick mockup:

I was thinking to offer this on a Commando sole. This would be a great, tough, Fall/Winter boot.

That looks great, although as it's somewhat dressy I'd prefer a dainite sole. The commando sole on the jumper boot makes a lot more sense IMO.

Also, are you likely to restock the Steinbecks you've had? I've seen that asked a couple of times but not answered yet - and assuming the boots in the mail fit, I would love the chance to pick up a pair of the blue Steinbecks as well.

I'd actually prefer the Carmina trees, as my Epics don't fill out the instep and toes quite as well (maybe this is a sizing issue? Any input from other people with Epics?), and the closest alternative is C&J trees that go for $100 per pair.

Mike: Have we scrapped the chocolate calf/purple suede greeley in place of the purple calf/snuff suede?

And just re-upping my suggestion for a jodhpur or chelsea in hatchgrain. I know at least one other person was up for a chelsea, so here's to hoping that a few others are interested (and somehow missed my last ten posts about it...).

I would prefer Carmina shoe trees.

Just collected my black Greeleys from the post office. Unfortunately they didn't come directly from Spain as I was expecting so they cost me an extra £60, such is life .. although if they were sold inside the EU then perhaps they would have had to add the VAT at source, I don't know.

The boots themselves are great, I'm not 100% convinced that the slight chunkiness of the Forest last works with the dressiness of the balmoral pattern but I suspect it will grow on me as it breaks in. The last is certainly very comfortable.

The Carmina shoe trees are quite nifty. I'm not familiar with the Epic trees but just to dampen down my obsessive tendencies I would probably be happy to pay extra to get the Carmina trees on future orders. Perhaps offer Epics as a standard with Carmina trees as an upgrade? not that you don't have enough to keep in mind as it is.

I prefer the Carmina shoe trees as well. I have 5 pair of Carmina (4 MTO from Epaulet and 1 Direct MTO) and i've gotten Carmina shoe trees with each order. I'm not sure that the epics fill out the shoe as well as the Carmina (especially in the rain and inca last). I'll abide by whatever decision is made and it'll make no difference in my future purchases. I'm also a little OCD and like everything to match.
I have two epics and three on the way from THP. If the price is right I would rather buy from epaulet. But at this point I'll buy from whoever stocks them.

Only brand specific trees I would get are lasted ones. I don't need non-lasted Carmina trees.

Fellow terra cotta boot owners, have you found the shaft of the boot is huge? My foot fits perfectly in the footbed of the boot but the laces are tied tight and it feels like I can stick almost 4 fingers between my foot and the top of the boot.

Anyone else have this problem?
