Did you pick up your Ruby shoes yet? I'm dying for some pictures here. I was hopeful that they would be shipped out today.

This may sound bland, but what about a black plain-toe balmoral on a traditional round toe last, like maybe the oscar? I feel like finding a quality one of these is seemingly impossible without a cap-toe on it.

What about the stock Alden model in black calf on the plaza last? It does have that soft square plaza last toe, so maybe not exactly the classic you had in mind.

It has a square-toe as you said, of which, I am not a fan. They have one on the aberdeen, but it is just too narrow for me to fit into.

There's actually a pretty big void in this particular style. Alden and Kent Wang are the only two companies (that I know of) that offer such a model using quality leather in their stock lineup. Even the Kent Wang model is somewhat squarish, albeit noticeably sleeker than the Alden model.

I know right? It is supposed to be the most formal suit/tuxedo shoe (aside from the pump) and yet no one seems to really offer it.

I mean honestly, I think it would look fine when worn (Sean Connery did it in some of the bond films after all). Much in the same way I think a sleeker plain toe derby would. Neither is going to look absurd when done well, I would just kind of like one true black, plain-toe oxford when I want to up the formality a bit biggrin.gif

Vass is one brand I really don't know much about and their internet presence appears lacking. Do you happen to know what the model is called or where to find it? The closest thing I have seen from Vass is (on right):

You can order directly or through SF member tombrone I think. Of course the big brands will all make some variation as well (Saint Crispin, G&G, EG, etc. etc.)

The shoe you search for is named the Crockett & Jones Wembley.  The 360 last is modern but not too squarish/sleek.
