Mike - Any news on the black wingtip MTO?

Cognac Shell Balmoral Boot Restock

Hey guys,

Quick note on this one. Our delivery of Cognac Shell Balmoral boots was short-shipped by three units, and two SF members were gracious enough to wait for a recutting of this style.

We're putting another run into work this week, and I have enough leather to cut an additional 5 boots over the backordered units. The specs will be exactly the same as the first run, and delivery will be around end Jan, mid Feb. I'll post up a full batch of photos tomorrow, but feel free to PM me anytime if you want to get on the reorder of this style.

Thanks!
Mike

I'm anticipating it in our next shipment, just waiting on confirmation from Carmina. It definitely should be here by the end of the month.

And double monks?

Since it doesn't sound as if Mike has much going on (rotflmao.gif), I'm going to throw the idea of a mixed leather Alt Wien makeup out there again. My thought is for scotch grain calf in tan or brown and burgundy shell.

Seems to me as if there are two ways we could go with this.

First is to create a quasi-saddle shoe with the pebble grain for the quarter (i.e., as the saddle), though that may be mixing up the style a little too much. I don't want Mike to feel glum because I'm sullying his Austro-Hungarian beauty.

My other thought is to have shell make up the vamp, tongue, and quarter, with the scotch grain for the brogued cap toe, the heel counter, and those little strips of leather that the lacing runs through (whatever they are called).

Any enthusiasm? I ask because I'm considering getting in on the Alt Wien calf reorder for a wide fitting, but will hold off it it looks like we have sufficient interest for a group MTO. Which is what, six people total?

Don't all answer at once.

Mike, I had a pre-order for the Cognac Shell Balmoral boots but have received no invoice or communication about them since you received the shipment. Would I be correct in surmising that I'm the third member of this sad triumvirate?

Hello Mike

Thanks for the reply. Can I reserve Salinger Double Monk Burgundy Shell Cordovan  UK 7.5 ( I wear alden plaza last 8.5E with insole and it fits nicely. Prada shoes I wear between UK7 and UK7.5). Do you think UK 7.5 is a good choice for the Carmina. Thanks!worship.gif

I haven't received an invoice either, but when I called last week, Mike didn't say if my boots were in the shipment or not.

Sigh. I'd just like a burgundy calf Alt Wien.

Question for those that bought the scotch grain boot. Some of you indicated that you plan to use the boots during inclement weather, do you plan to spray a weather protector on the boots?

Also, can someone recommend a good shoe insole?

Thanks

^ I've also been looking for a waterproofing agent for fine calfskin. I've been trying Afta Guardsman (on Nick of B. Nelson's suggestion) on my caramel calf dub monks and will report back.
