Ermenegildo Zegna logo on buttons: true or fake?

I recently spotted a suspicious "Ermenegildo Zegna" suit. Apart from the fabric which appeared suspicious enough, the thing that caught my eye was the "Ermenegildo Zegna" logo on all of the suit's buttons. The logo was bright white, and the buttons were black and made from plastic.

Is it normal for E.Zegna suits to carry logo-ed buttons? To me, that's just terribly ugly and unsuitable for a name that Zegna is to advertise itself all over a supposed high-end piece of clothing.

Opinions?

I've seen the name "Ermenegildo Zegna" embossed on the front buttons of their winter coats, but never on suits from them.

Agreed, never seen it on a Zegna mainline suit.

I'd be surprised if they did white lettering on a black button for anything except Zegna Sport.

+1. only seen the lettering on the non visible buttons (inside jacket and pants) of their suits and coats.

i have seen on their website that they do make all kinds of buttons with emblems, especially on the mop buttons, but that may be exclusively for the xxx couture items. im not 100% sure.

Anyway, this is supposed to be the mainline suit, but to me it seemed more like a Chinese fake.... The seller tried to be convincing and said: "this is the new 2012 model" smile.gif)

Hi,

Do you have any pictures?

I've only observed the Zegna letting on Z-Zegna suits, never on mainline Zegna.  Have you checked out the Zegna Label Thread?.

This may help.  However, without pictures, it's difficult to say.  If I had to make a judgement call, I would say Fake.

Here's an example of a fake suit on ebay.

I hope this helps.

That suit is totally awful.  You can tell a mile off.
