I'm a little stuck here.
I want to go out to the clubs looking smart i.e shirt and tie smart. However, I don't know how to pull this look off.
I like the grey look, grey trousers with a smart shirt and shoes, but don't know what shirt or shoes to buy.
Help!

Unless your wearing a jacket, don't wear a tie, in fact if your going clubbing, don't wear a tie even if your wearing a jacket. Buy nice shoes, make sure your clothes fit properly. The rest is personal choice IMO. That said I would avoid dark coloured dress shirts.

For a smart club look, nothing beats a black suit and white shirt

Grey is a office colour in my opinion, also please don't wear a red shirt

If you insist on grey trouser, I will suggest you to get a nice dark velvet jacket, no tie

Good luck

Why not a red/burgundy shirt?

The shirt I'm looking at doesn't look cheap.
What colour of shirt do you recommend ?

I'm not saying the shirt itself looks cheap, but the people who I have seen trying to pull off that look are usually pretty tacky. Red shirt + black tie= frat dude.

There is always a white shirt but you can mix it up by getting a checked pattern. I always like the gingham look but it depends on your personal style.

Where do you see people in red shirts / black ties? I've never seen anybody in my greek system wear that out. A few brothers may wear a black suit with red shirt black tie but not for going out?

And something overdyed red like the BoO shirts would look good imo

Does white not look too office-worker like ? I reckon the burgundy shirt (has a white stripe down the middle and is white at the cuffs) with brown shoes and brown belt will look good ?

Sounds a risky option, may I ask for pics?

White shirt could be causal if it is a relax collar

I don't want to be rude, but that shirt sounds terrible. I'm not really into the clubbing scene but I imagine it would make you look like a cheese dick. The shoes and belt sound fine though. Try posting a picture if you could so we can get a better idea of what you are talking about.
