I ripped my pants badly - is it fixable? (pic inside) - Page 3

he OP, that rip isn't really along the seam, which is probably what the store is thinking. looks like it's near the seam, but not a simple fix. My prediction is you'll take it to the store and they'll realize the mistake and tell you they can't be fixed after all, or they'll turn that further side of the rip into the new seam and one leg will be wonky so they'll never fit you properly.

shit happens, go buy some new pants and move on with life.

+1. If it was just the stitching that tore then it would be easy to sew up, but it looks like the fabric itself has not only ripped but then frayed terribly, there is no way this can be repaired.

OK, I scimmed through the thread. Master tailor Iroh will save you. Yes you can repair the pants, one, fold the pants in half inside out and cut a new arch, two, take a serger and seal the frayed ended, and then take a sewing machine and sew the two halves back together. Sealing the fabric with a serger will take off some fabric, till the base of the frayed ends at least, which means there will be less fabric in the seat area, and will result in a tighter fit after the pants are sew up. But unless your pants were butt-hugging tight before, the repaired pants should not affect comfort and looks. Hope this helps and any followup questions you can post here and I will get back to you soon.

The amount that would be necessary to take out would completely mess up the fit of the seat. Unless they were terribly loose before, the result would probably be way too tight and make it look like his trousers are trying to crawl up his ass. Also, to keep the seat seam straight, he would have to take the fabric out along the length, right up to the waist, meaning he would have to cut the waistband if it isn't split and that the waist would also likely become too tight for them to be wearable. If he didn't take it up to the waistband it would mean making a weirdly curved seat seam instead of straight which would again make the fit look incredibly weird. There is no way that the result would be worth the bother.

im pretty sure you can find the same pants though. It shouldnt be more than $200 if its a pair of hugo boss pants.

the picture looks as though the pants were too tight. if that is so then the repairs would make them even tighter yet.
then story then repeats.
