The ultimate tie box would be one in which everyone gives up a tie or two that it pains them a little to part with. I think the temptation is to donate something that's from a nice maker but that sits at the back of the closet. As someone said already, it should be something you have in your rotation. Otherwise there's probably something less than awesome about it.
That said, I get the impression that most participants did donate good stuff meeting this criteria. The box doesn't seem that bad to me.

I scanned back thru the thread and saw that most folks did take pics of what they took and what they left. The box looked excellent for a good while and there are still some nice ties in there, just none that work for me. For instance, the Saks tie is nice but too thin/short for me. The Zegna dot tie is nice but too thin/lightweight, I like thicker ties. The Borrelli is nice but I was moving away from diagonal striped ties. The Charvet is a great brand but the tie looks ancient. Lands' end tie has pulls and loose threads. Gucci tie is not my steez although I can see someone pulling that off well, and it's got some weight to it. The PRL tie is very nice. The Howard Yount tie has nice texture, weight, but the pattern is not for me.

I liked that Yount tie as well. I probably would have taken it if it had a little color to it. Also, here are pics of the ties and PS that I took. [Cue snickering audience.] Sorry about poor quality especially the first one shog[1].gif but you get the idea.

SO WHAT ARE WE DOING WITH THE BOX?
I am still in, but I don't want it to start with me. The final round should have a tie for tie, if you take 2 you put in three, as a penalty. The tie you put in should really be something that you don't want to part with.

I think im in for round 2.
WHO ELSE IS IN?

1. allaboutshoes
2. gyasih

At this point, i think we should let in the few people who asked to be in round 1. They can start off the box so round 1 people wont be in the beginning of the list. Sound ok?

I'm up for it. 1 tie in, 1 tie out sounds good to me.
