I didn't buy it!! I was just starting the shoe horn p0rn bit of the thread.

I have polished metal shoe horn from camper, cost me 6 pounds. I left it in my in-laws house in london though

^ I'm using a shoehorn I got for free. Polished metal as well.

I use them with all my shoes. Except for one pair of loafers. I think they are .5 too big.

OK, now I'm a little confused. Do you refer to laced dress shoes particular? And do you keep the laces in all the shoe holes before you put them on?

I always use one. I use the one made of horn that was selling on B&S a few months back.

Dress shoes, of course. Applied to both balmorals or bluchers. I keep all laces in their eyelets but all of them are loose. In fact, I loosen all of them (not just, says, the first 2 rows of eyelets) whenever I take off my shoes.

Thx for the tip, onix. That could also be a solution for relaxing the eyelets from all the lace tension.

For my dress shoes I always use a shoehorn and also carry a pocket version.
As ONIX stated, depending on the last, your foot, overall fit, etc. you may not need to use a shoe horn for every pair of shoes you own.
The only exceptions for me would be boots, sneakers, deck shoes and (gasp) sandals.

Ive got like 3 here in the wardrobe, one in my briefcase, 2 at my desk.

You never know where a new pair of shoes will land.

Always, with my better shoes...I have a polished steel one with an 8 inch wood handle and a cotton lanyard attached to that...it sits on the little end table next to the chair where I sit to put on my shoes. Now, having said all that, I do have beater loafers and Sperry boatshoes that I wear to walk the dog, and I just slide those on without the help of the shoehorn.

On a side note, the ONLY shoes I don't un-tie before I remove them are the crappy old Asics running shoes I wear to mow the lawn.

Of course everyone would advise to use shoehorns. And I also happen to have 3 arounds, for mostly loafers and boots. It just happened that I slowly realized that I never need shoehorn for lace-ups. Maybe I was blessed with the way my shoes fit?
