Grenson Masterpiece: Expert opinion needed

Thread Starter
I stumbled upon an Ebay seller selling new old stock Grenson shoes which are advertised as "of superior (Masterpiece) quality". Since the shoes are not branded as Masterpiece I would like to know if fellow forum members can judge from the pictures (if possible) if they truly are of this high quality as seller states.

I currently do not own Grenson Masterpiece shoes, so I have nothing to compare.

Item numbers are: 290638690488 and 290638501650

As can be seen the seller has an immaculate reputation (100% feedback score) but I just want to be sure no listing mistake has been made.

Can it be the flash that makes the leather look like plastic? Or do you think these shoes are more like Rushden range quality (made in India from inferior materials)?

i bought a Grenson Rose line pair recently which had channelled soles (although I am not sure they all have).

These certainly look inferior to mine.

But they also look quite old (and are described as old stock). Maybe the terminology has changed.

Contacted seller and asked for "made in England" signs. Seller responded they are made in India. So, more like Rushden quality, in which case I will pass.

Those are hideous - I can only assume the seller will not have an immaculate reputation for long...

To be fair and for the record the seller has revised the listing to read "of Rushden standard".

Good for the seller being willing to revise the listing.

Most people selling this stuff on Ebay wouldn't notice, and definitely wouldn't appreicate, the difference between a Masterpiece and a Rushden if someone from SF stood in the room with them and showed them point by point. They just don't know better.

it's like trying to convince a seller that his "blue label" Polo suit- that's made in Canada with a blue "Ralph Ralph Lauren" tag- isn't a blue label suit. Most people just don't get it, don't notice, and don't understand how anyone could possibly tell the difference.
