Fleece Jacket Rec

Thread Starter
Looking to purchase a warm fleece jacket for everyday wear to/from work on more casual days.

Other than the usual north face zip fleece which are quite popular, in terms of either brands or certain jackets, would you guys recommend anything in particular? I have been using ta brooks brothers fleece which I purchased at an outlet for pretty cheap but am looking to upgrade to something warmer as the weather gets colder.

Any info/suggestions between (Arc'teryx, marmot, patagonia, columbia, TNF) would be appreciated.

Thanks!

If you're wearing tailored clothing I would avoid fleece. A decent sweater will also keep you warm. That said Triple Aught Design makes a great "hardface" fleece jacket that looks great with jeans and has subtle branding. Another good choice so far is the icebreaker realfleece series, I got one recently and it's light, warm and looks great. However I've heard horror stories of them falling apart after a wash. I've yet to wash mine.

Generally while fleece is lighter than wool for the warmth, most brands are overbranded and styled like Japanese motorcycles. Synthetic fleece also retains odor and melts when burned. Very bad especially if you smoke...
