Thinnest thermals...perhaps even leggings?

My public transit commute includes short walks to the subway stop and from the other stop to my work. Its not cold enough yet to require an overcoat, but it's still cold. I'm thinking of putting on some thermal underwear at least in the morning for my short outdoor jaunt. However, my thermal underwear is so thick that I think it makes me look frumpy. And, I have some slim fitting dress pants that probably wouldn't look good.

So, can anyone recommend a brand or a fabric of thermals that are thin and comfortable? I think it's all about layering so it doesn't have to be any kind of performance warming (i.e. expensive) fabric. TIA.

Patagonia lightweight capeline or merino.  Or Smartwool microweight.  Or find some made of silk.

Arcteryx Rho or Icebreaker, definitely thin and comfy, but fairly spendy.

Uniqlo heattech is pretty thin and cheap.

I can personally vouch for this one.

I love uniqlo heat tech products. The underwear and undershirts are staples for me nowadays. I also have some of their socks but they are... just okay. My fiancé has the leggings and is quite pleased.

By the way, I really like their dress shirts.
