Can anyone advise on sizing for the 7L Trima or 7L 230 last in general?

The Trima is on the 230 (wide) last - my foot, at 26.7cm on the 7L size chart, suggests I'd be a 7UK on their wide lasts. I am a usually a US 9D (Alden Plaza last in 9D is perhaps my perfect fit) in dress shoes; I've been wearing Aldens on Barrie last at 8.5C forever; RMW Craftsman in 8G is also a great fit for me. My most recent Brannock measurement was 9.5C - with high arches and instep.

I corresponded with 7L today and they referred me back to the chart - which led me to ask here as I can't make sense of the chart vs. info in this thread etc etc., particularly where it seems the consensus here is down one size from your usual size on their wide last. thanks

The charts are useless.

US 9D usually? Take a UK 8.

I wear carmina UK 8 and took same for 7L and half a size up for a narrow last.

Thanks!

Their size chart is very similar to Orbans' (in fact, it might be the same because maybe the shoes are sourced from the same factory??) - Orbans' (and 7L's) size chart would put me at a 6.5-7 UK in their wide fit. I know I am a UK8 in Orbans dress shoes, and I know I'm a UK7.5 in Orban's Norwegian welt shoes (though I'm wearing a UK8 with an insole), so I bet the same holds true for 7L.

It's probably not worth the hassle/risk from overseas to figure this out.

I need to find a foot proxy in the EU one of these days.

Size 8 should fit you well honestly.

I found the charts perplexing. I even measured my feet according to their target lengths, and I was supposed to be uk8.5 in thin lasts and even uk8 in larger lasts (no way on earth that's true).
I ended up just getting my most common welted shoe size (UK9) and it was correct, and consider my second choice is usually uk9.5, not lower.
That being said, I am in love with the Gatsby boot design. It's something no other reputable maker has in their collection atm as far as i know (though I didn't really consult anything in brackets higher than e.g. TLB Artista), and fits the bill perfectly for me for a dressier version of a chukka. With trousers on top it looks like a normal split toe derby, but actually provides a bit more coverage without getting too in the way of your trousers, unlike a fulll-height boot.

I spent my commute home rooting around and finally found a review of the Trima in French that warned they run a little big. (Hat tip to Commeuncamion.com for that). 7L is sold out of 7.5, which I think would probably be perfect. That would be consistent with my experience with Orbans noted above (i.e., UK true to size/US -1 for dress shoes, UK -0.5/US -1.5 for Norwegian welted shoes), and not surprising given the shared lineage of the brands I guess.
Probably could live with the 8 and some fidgetry, but I was hoping for a thin/no sock, close fit for spring.

So my search for a deck shoe/Tyrolean/lug sole hybrid like the Trima (which seems related to, if not based on, the Paraboot Chimey that I am too cheap to buy) must continue.

Hello,
I'm new to the forum and I would appreciate help in choosing the right size from 7L. I live in Quebec and am unfortunately unable to try them on.
I exchanged several e-mails with the 7L representative, who was very courteous as she was quick to answer, but she didn't give me a clear picture.
My foot (the longest) measures 27.2 cm. According to the Brannock scale, I'm between 10 and 10.5, which corresponds fairly well to my US size at Allen Edmonds (10.5D). In general, I avoid shoe lasts that are too narrow, given my fairly wide foot.
I'd like to order a derby in last 237, which is one of their wide lasts : https://www.septiemelargeur.fr/en/derbies/814-smith-dainite.html
If I go by their chart https://www.septiemelargeur.fr/en/content/29-size-guide, my UK size would be a borderline 7.5 - 8, which the 7L representative first confirmed to me on the basis of my foot measurements. I found this quite surprising and replied that my US size was more like 10.5 with a wide foot, and the person ended up recommending a UK size of 9.5!
The table in the size guide seems nonsense to me, and in the end I'm hesitating about which size to order. Do you have a recommendation?

Will SL provide a leather insole that's cut to the shape of the last? I have some from TLB Mallorca for one pair. They help very much for my low instep.
