Hello everybody-
I need advice for an upcoming event.
The event:
It will be a holiday party at a quite "upper class" hotel. On the invitation a 'semi-formal' dress code is stated. As the invitation was quite a surprise to me, the company is in general not too formal and as I am a student I was told not to take that toooo serious. On the other hand I do not want to be there kind of 'under-dressed' when everybody else goes there nicely dressed.
My situation:
1 week to go to the event and my suits are literally 10,000 km away from me... I just have a mouse-gray sportscoat with me (it is of a suit-like garment though and not that informal).
Easiest way to go would be to buy a suit over here (I am currently in California), The problem is that I am tall and skinny- size 38L (just the slim ones of those).
My questions:
Can I combine the jacket with a nice shirt, pants and tie to have an appropriate outfit for that party? If yes- can you give me advices on the colours? I am a blonde European if that helps...
Or do you have any other advises for me how to solve my situation? I am located in the southern Bay Area (if you want me to name some good stores over here...) and my budget is limited to about $500 (maybe a little more).
