Shoe quarter creasing?

Should I be concerned about the fit if my dress shoes are creasing slightly on the quarter and lower vamp? I'm using shoe trees and rotating them. I'm fine with the creasing across the shoe throat, not sure if the other creasing is normal.

Pics? Shoes will crease in those places - impossible to say whether your creasing is "normal" without seeing the magnitude.

It folds up like a V and shoe trees don't really help to stretch it back out.

Welcome to Styleforum.
As per photo, this shouldn't happen but it sometimes does. If these shoes are 'factory seconds' then you have to live with it.
With regards to your other creasing concerns, that is perfectly normal wear. No need to be concerned.

I am using a shoe horn and they're not factory seconds. i think when i walk, the shoe expands at the crease. I'm not sure if that means the shoe doesn't fit

This is not as uncommon with AEs as one might think. I've seen several posts/threads on here about this issue with AEs.

Most of my AEs do it to some extent. None of my non-AEs do it at all.

I've seen this as well. I own one pair of AEs, and I've noticed a lot more flex through the middle of the shoe than I do with my Aldens and Shell C&Js. I wonder if there's something inherently more flexy with the way AE constructs their shoes (no steel shank).

My cobbler, Jeff at Cobblestone Shoe Repair in Creve Coeur MO told me, very delicately I might add, that AE's are prone to that flex in front of the heel, especially with larger men like me (235Lbs), and that if it gets really pronounced as the shoe wears, the leading edge of the heel can start wearing, not just the trailing edge where it normally strikes the pavement.  He seems to be right, I have a tired pair of AE McAllisters that the heel is wearing funny, and the wear pattern on the sole is moving farther and farther back toward the heel...

I have noticed this (to a degree) on my AEs as well. What I've noticed is that on my AEs, the front toe seems to lift upward off the ground a bit in its relaxed state presumably to prevent toe wear; likewise the sides have the puckered V. When walking, the sole flexes flat more often, and when fully flexed flat, the pucker is diminished.

Anything I can do to minimize or get rid of the quarter creasing? Would stuffing the heel with newspaper around the shoe tree help?
