Hello, I'm a university student and I can only tell you what I haven't got, time and money. I want to follow current trends in men's fashion without spending 100's of euros on clothing. How can I do this?

Work real hard make lots of money and/or take out loans. Enjoy it while your young the only vomit I have to worry about on a Friday night is from my 9 month old son these days.

The above and stick to the classics.

One each of most types which flatter you is better than one in every color.

Don't buy anything with visible brand names.

Stick with natural fibers except where it offers a functional advantage for the money spent.

Know your measurements and shop on eBay, if it doesn't work out, flip it.

This, 1000 times this. If you want to be thrifty and dress nicely, I too suggest eBay - or local thrift stores. You have to learn what to look for and how to know when to pass on something, but if you can do that you're set.

Make sure your clothes fit properly and are well cared for.  Learn to use an iron.  Learn how to layer and to get maximum use out of the clothes you already have.  Stay away from fads.  Buy the best quality you can afford.  Know what you like and what you don't like and never compromise your standards just because something is on sale.

i buy nice stuff when it's on sale, or even from eBay. i might spend more money than you'd like to, but probably not by much. I too am a college student with no real income at the moment.

The B&S forums on these boards are great, you get amazing discounts. From my experience most of the stuff I bought from ebay were disasters (fakes or not as described). I find the sellers on these forums a lot more honest.
