Thoughts on this Balmoral Boot

What are the fora's opinions/thoughts on this boot?

It is Goodyear welted, bevel waist, closed channel stitching, fully finished sole, 'box calf', no lasted trees available, manufactured in France.

The price is 295 Euros. This strikes me as a hell of a lotta boot for the price.

not my style, but looks decent quality.

Isn't it not good though when the full heel doesn't touch the ground?

I like it and agree that its good value.

I recall one of our cobbler members saying something about the non-contact facilitating better movement.

Good point Quad. I hadn't noticed the heal in the pic. Not sure what to make of that.

It is sold in France actually manufactured in Spain. Decent construction but the leather is susceptible to forming deep creases very quickly.

Ah!

It sounds like you know the manufacturer. Would you say the creasing is due to leather quality or lack of toe cap/additional stitching, etc. etc.?
Indeed. It is the leather quality but a friend of mine has these and is quite happy with them.

Thank you! Very interesting. This would be somewhat the sort of thing I would expect at this price. It's not possible to have super quality leather, decent construction, etc. etc. at that price.

I'm about to pull the trigger on these as well.

Still figuring out whether to go with a 7,5 or an 8 (41,5 or 42). Apparantly they run small, I'm a 40,5-41 in magnanni's...dilemma!

Why is no-one naming the maker?
