Well, the execution was a smidge crude, but the concept is sound.  I have never seen soles like that around here available for retail sale, just the little plastic/nylon toe and heel taps.

Didn't realize it was that simple to put them on. My cobbler charges me $30 for them, but it looks like he cuts out a thin layer of the leather sole?

Based on your pics, I didn't realize the topy has such a taper so maybe he just glues it on?
