Alternative to Allen Edmonds Park Avenue

Greetings SF'ers,

I'm a college student and am looking for a pair of black captoe dress shoes. I realize that Allen Edmonds' Park Avenue is the commonly suggested entry-level captoe oxford, but I'm a college student, and $325 is a bit more than I'd like to pay for a shoe I'd only wear a handful of times a year. Plus, I was in an Allen Edmonds store today, and I must admit, I'm not overly crazy about the shape of the last, not to mention I seem to be in between sizes.

So, I'm seeking suggestions for a cheaper alternative to the Park Avenue, preferably in the $150-$200 (U.S.) range. Anyone have any comments on the Lands' End Fulton Captoe? I know they won't receive much praise around here, but for the price, are they reasonable? Also, I believe this shoe is technically a Derby, not an Oxford, but I'm okay with that.

Any other suggestions?

For that price range, Johnston and Murphy might be a good choice.

You can find the PA on sale for ~$200 from time to time at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and other events. I believe the PA was ~$220 on Amazon yesterday. Keep checking and I'm sure it will drop down that low again between now and Christmas.

I paid $ 190 and change for some BNWT Park Avenues in Black in 9 1/2 with Box and Dustbags on ebay... So that if you wait a little you'll find your deal. Do not hurry to buy AE's if you can wait. Eventually you'll see what you like at a good discount...

If you're only going to wear the black captoe only a handful of times a year, why care about the shape? A guy sells brand new AEs for around $250 on the B&S in case that makes you reconsider the PAs.
