First time AE buyer, looking at Strands -- HELP!

New here! Wanting to buy some Walnut Allen Edmonds Strands, so I'm looking at a worn-once pair going for 200. Is that a decent deal?  Problem is I've never tried one on and dunno how long until someone buys it. It's a size 9D and I usually wear size 9-9.5 for casual shoes. Should I buy it since there is a return policy within 2 days of receiving the shoes and it's such a good price?

Or should I try on a pair at Nordstrom later this week? First time buying real dress shoes  Lemme know what you guys think.

buy it if time is of the essence. Strands run long and narrow, so take that into consideration.

Go try it at Nordstorm, but I wouldn't buy it until you know that the size fits you. You can get new-in-box AEs for $250 on the B&S here so $200 isn't that much of a steal. I imagine that the guy will post a link here at some point.

yeah, if you're not an experienced shoe buyer, first go and try on a few pairs and find your last, size, and model (even then same last with different uppers may change your size preference). I've never understood people who buy shoes online just 'hoping' they'll fit... online buying is best reserved for finding something you already KNOW (ie have seen and fitted on in a store or you know the brand and sizing) for cheaper.

So finding practically new $200 strands aren't too rare? How often would you say they come up?

Gonna drive by Nordstrom's tomorrow and hope they're still up and the fit is the same lol.

Look at the current Brooks Brothers sale. They have relabeled AE's on there, including strands:

http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=1219&Product_Id=1518393&Parent_Id=1215&default_color=BLACK&sort_by=&sectioncolor=&sectionsize=

They are currently 30% off...

Sadly, they were 45% off until tonight, but the extra 20% expired at midnight.

Speaking of which, check out amazon if you want the shoes directly from AE and not the relabeled ones. 30% off most models of AE's including the strands for sunday/monday.

thanks a lot sportin_life. Those are some good deals but I'm also starting to read rumor of a 2 for 300 deal on the actual AE site in the next few days?Anyone know if that's true?
Where did you hear this rumor? 2 for $300 sounds like something the AE factory seconds store would do, not the main site.

Allen Edmonds Appreciation thread I think.

I got a pair of those during the sale. Ended up being 194 before tax. Great deal and the 2/3 rubber sole is great for winter.

AE has a comprehensive sizing guide that you print out and measure your foot with on their site. i don't know how accurate it will be, but it's gotta help at least a little.
