Ideas on how to wear brown tweed sport coat?

I will be starting a position in academia as an assistant professor in January. I've purchased this sport coat. Note, it is the dk brown one. Would appreciate some tips on how to wear it. I usually wear light gray, charcoal, british tan, and navy wool pants. How might I best coordinate this jacket?

A blue or pink oxford button-down will look especially good with brown tweed.

Try pairing it with some khaki trousers and a simple repp tie.

Blue shirt and chinos or lighter wool pants is my choice.

Academia: bow tie! Only self-tied, of course. Pre-tied is the work of Satan. You may also want to read this thread.

Whenever I can't make up my mind, I revert to the color called variously 'taupe' or 'stone'.  It's woven with both tan and grey thread, I think, and goes well with everything, sort of the ultimate neutral color.  A pair of trousers in that color in all the weights needed in your climate should almost be a wardrobe essential.
