I'm looking at buying the moonphase 6263-1127A-55 ( http://www.timetunnel-jp.com/Blancpain62631127a55b22607.html ) , anybody have any suggestions where I can get one online/nynj area? or opinions on the watch, recommendations for something else similar? It looks like this is last years model, and although I like the newer one slightly better, not worth the 20% or so increase in price I'm seeing it go for.

This was a gift from my boss. I kept it for a few months before I just sold it. It is pretty solid. Made in USA. You can't beat the quality. If I needed a sterling silver money clip I would buy a...

I just picked this up and I am pretty pleased. Just what I expected. I am pleased with the Bark. However, I wish it was a little darker. A great deal for $35. Comparable to other belts in the...

I have the Leman moonphase which is a slightly more sporty version of the Villeret. The watch is great, but they are getting a little pricey. I think retail price for the current version Leman and Villeret moonphase are in the $12-15K range . I just took mine in for service at Blancpain and the estimate was $1,400 for essentially a routine service.
That said, I don't think there are any great alternatives at that price or less expensive. You might have a look at the JLC Master Calendar, but I don't think the dial is as well balanced. To source the particular watch you are looking at, I'd check with the Blancpain shop in NYC and then the regular retailers like Tourneau.

$1400 for routine service!???? wow, there goes the used idea. From what I can tell, the price has really jumped a LOT in the past few years for some reason, I was hoping to pick up one a few years old, but if service is going to cost me 1400 I'd rather just buy new.
I plan on going to the blancpain store this week just to see it in person, so far I've only seen it on the web, but from my understanding blancpain or tourneau will only sell at retail $- something I'm not willing to pay. I may just pick it up from alanfurman or somewhere else online who has it about 25% off retail

In fairness, I did have the crystal and hands replaced but the service is still rather expensive. It cost more than the 15K on my 911 Turbo!
Tourneau should be able to do a discount. The Blancpain Boutique might not, but the people in the store are nice and will let you check out whatever you want.
