Sport Coat Prices & Styles - Help/Post Your Knowledge (Made-To-Measure)

Hello - I am new to dressing well and have decided to purchase 8-9 sport coats. There are several places I can go, including My Suit (mysuitny.com) in NYC, or a tailor I've used for a suit before. But I am unsure of the pricing structure for sport coats. Is $250 the low end? Is $600 a normal price or is it the high end? Is $1500 the ultra high end, or just pointless, etc.

Also, if you have a guy you use, post his prices and contact information. I know that fabric makes a big difference in price, so if you know that for example a good Harris Tweed coat should cost $X dollars, post that information. Basically, the more info we build here, the better dressed we can make society!

Thanks,

BENJIBOO

Information is overrated since most people never do a simple search before asking questions. Have you done any searches at all?

Maybe you should read this thread, first.

Thanks for the help. Really, thanks a lot.I never thought of preforming a search at all. Oh wait, the search on this site sucks and gives you hundreds of post. This forum has zero organization, so perhaps you could have written about that instead of trying to be a witty a-hole.

Welcome to the forum, you're off to a good start. I always find that when jumping into a new situation, it's best to call people names and be critical. You have it down pat. Congrats!

Yeah members are really welcoming here. You post for some help and instead get some witty remarks. For a second I thought I joined the TMZ or Perez Hilton forums.

Relax. The retail prices for nice ready to wear brands will most likely exceed $1500. For comparable custom made, you'd probably need to spend at least that much with one of the Hong Kong tailors. Why do you need custom? I don't think you know what you're doing to get custom; stick to sales of finished products such as Ralph Lauren's line of sport coats and suits. Instead of asking what the price ranges are, what is your price range? Why do you need bespoke/custom? You can't buy bespoke on sale (usually), while you can buy rtw on sale (sometimes for 70-90% off). If you want good value, you're going to have to buy deeply discounted ready to wear items.

To give you an idea of prices, the Brioni sport coat and the Kiton sport coat in my signature that I have for sale are some of the most expensive brands. Each of those sport coats probably retailed above $4000, but as you can see, you can buy them for a fraction of the price. You won't find quality anywhere close to this with custom clothing.

I will tell you why: You came here, asked questions that have been answered and discussed many times, then claimed we should answer because it's good for the society, and started calling names, criticized members here and the forum, etc. Yeah, good luck, you have it all coming.

Onix, get the story straight. I asked a question (which is a large part of what this forum is for), and although similar questions have been discussed and answered, I had some specific details in there I wanted addressed, that arent worth spending 60 minutes searching for when there are supposed to be experts on this forum.

THEN you decided to post a rude witty response instead of helping out and providing assistance to a new member. In any event, you could have said what you said nicely.

ONLY THEN did I criticize you and call you a name. I'm done with this topic. Will not be checking back. Thanks for the warm welcome Onix, I will be sure to highly NOT recommend this forum to anyone.

That's why nobody bothered. Why should we waste time on questions not worth your time?

And with that, Onix should get an award for a job well done.

In this bar, on this night, that guy should either buy a round or hit the road.
