Exactly our point.

I guess it's your prerogative to be scandalized by stuff that's not even intended for you, but if they're not even trying to look classic, the critique is meaningless.

I'm not "scandalized" by anything.  I don't really care for whom it's intended.  Much of what appears on SW&D is hideous.  So is this WSJ article.  Hence the obvious connection between the two.

Follow the link. You need the pictures for the full effect.

Ugh - The dinner suit, cummerbund and crew neck t-shirt idea for "Relaxed Glamour" is just awful.

The state of black tie for the racing world is rather dire. Especially disappointing is Jackie Stewart, a long-time patron of Savile Row. Adrian Newey, well, there's really not much to say, is there?

It's strange that he only owns two pairs of cuff links. I'm also skeptical of such a thing as tuxedo-only cuff links—unless they're part of a stud and cuff link set, but I think it's fine to wear them without the studs.

I've done this frequently, actually. Nothing wrong with it IMO.

I'm looking at a tux with satin lapels but they are rayon and not silk. Is that normal? Bad? The jacket itself is super 130s wool

I'd be grateful for some advice. I'm having a dinner jacket made for me with the following specs: single breasted, single link button, midnight blue super 120 (my tailor has a limited choice and I'm in a bit of a hurry), black velvet shawl collar. Should the trousers have a velvet side stripe that matches the collar - or a braid side stripe or satin/grosgrain? I think I may have to wear a cummerbund or my waistband will show - in which case, should the cummerbund be satin? Grosgrain? Velvet? I'm very wary of overdoing the velvet - but most of the online advice I can find suggests that the cummerbund and trouser side stripe should match the facings on the lapel...

Hugely grateful for any/all guidance.

The pant stripes should match the lapels for sure. As for the cummerbund, I personally would go with a black grosgrain one. I wouldn't want to overdose on the velvet, and the cummerbund is by and large hidden away th majority of the time.

Here's an Oxxford jacket in Super 100s with velvet collar. I don't see matching trousers but you might contact the store or Oxxford themselves and see what they recommend...

My wedding party, last night. One of a very few occasions to be black-tied in Southeast Asia.

Well, I got my tuxedo dress shirt with Marcella bib from Clermont Direct and it looks lovely. Great quality at a great price. Very happy.

Is one of those a Hefeweizen?

(Both are) supposedly so. And that stuff got me hammered quite good that night.
