should i get these?

hey everyone,

i so desperately want the gucci python mocs up on their website, however, i'm in the process of building up my wardrobe so i'm wondering if i should get those or get say two pairs of john lobb drivers or the ferragamo croc drivers? i already have two pair of gucci drivers (one suede which is horribly ruined the other black pebble leather).  however, i want to buy quality items that will last me for a while, especially at this price point.  i tend to wear drivers with jeans, a button down, and maybe a blazer and scarf.  if you all could weigh in or suggest some alternatives that would be great! TIA!

I like John Lobb better.

Mostly because Patrick Grant wears them.

Sheesh!  $900 + for them?  okay so u like the look, but these are badly constructed and for that money you could be going Gaziano and Girling or one of the other decent higher end makes.  spend some time on the site, look around, and you'll quickly see u can do better

I visited the Gaziono and Girling website (this is my first time hearing of them), but i did not see any drivers on their website.  The loafers are nice, however i'm still a little more casual, hence my propensity for drivers.  by any chance do you know any other shoe makers that make exotics at that price point? part of my reason for joining this site is that you all seem very knowledgeable and passionate about footwear.  while i typically wear gucci, i knew there were less known, yet better constructed shoes out there.  my hope is to discover that whole world.  thank you!

i'm torn between that brownish tan one and what appears to be a navy blue or black suede.  Although i am intrigued by the darker brown pair that is featured on the website.  maybe i should give them a call to find out if they have that color available. is there anything to keep in mind as for the colors (special care or varied durability)?

Gotta stop you right there. Driving mocs are made for driving, soles are too delicate for anything else.

I think that ideology is more or les passé these days. People more frequently than not wear boat shoes when they are no where near a body of water.  Similarly I think that may have been the purpose for the shoe, but it's more of a fashion statement today.
